Smoke

Smoke

A Poem by D.

As I see myself, I see what I am starting to become. My biggest fear.
The way I look, that way I sound, the way I think. I want to stop this. I want it all to drift away.
I may be your daughter but you, you were never my father.
The older I get, the more I grow, I become you. I see you.
I have done what I thought was my best. I have tried to push these thoughts away. I have tried to stop this change.

But like smoke in a mirror I am merely a shadow.

I empathise absolutely and still deal with the repercussions of feeling..and probably always will,...but today, I am able to see things from a different perspective.
That is a very honest verse on a tough subject.

I love the imagery in this and the feelings.
