Will to LiveA Poem by Destiny GlennWill to Live Written by Destiny Glenn
I’ve been struggling. I’ve been holding on to everything With only the little strength I have.
I’ve been shoving things Into my mouth to keep me quiet, To keep me from expressing. Expression will cause senses To build up inside; I don’t want to feel it. Not for one second.
Though I don’t like suffocating, I don’t like drowning even more. If I keep holding my breath Under this giant wave That made its way over me, I don’t think I’ll die.
If I were to inhale, Spit out everything That causes me to fade; I’m not sure survival Would be in my favor.
I just wish someone, Anyone, would drag me back to shore. I’m somewhere out there, I promise.
If you just listen closely, You’ll hear my shallow scream. But if you don’t find me soon, I’m not sure if I can hold on. Not much longer.
And each second I’m down here, There’s a piece that attaches itself.
Don’t let me sink to the bottom. Please. I’m trying to stay close. © 2016 Destiny GlennReviews
