Chapter 11A Chapter by Destiny GlennChapter Eleven
I’m sitting in one of the chairs outside Ramon’s office gathering my thoughts. Honestly, I know he’s probably not going to give me much useful information. No one in this God forsaken facility gives me useful information, it’s all just lies. I’m just hoping maybe I can manipulate my way into at least meeting Bryan, though. I know they know where he is because he was supposed to drive me here. Plus, Dr. Peters was there. It’s pretty obvious that’s she runs the place, or at least this unit. So, if I want any luck with seeing Bryan to get some answers, I need to convince her. “Natalie?” Ramon asks, surprised to see me sitting there. I look up. “I need to talk to you. It’s important.” He probably thinks I’m in here to talk about dreams or something. That’s exactly why I said “important”. It’s because they’re so focused on keeping whatever it is they’re keeping from us that that’s all they think about. That’s step two on how you manipulate these people. Step one is studying them and learning how they think. Honestly, they make step one pretty easy. “Okay, come in. Sit down.” Ramon says as he unlocks his office and walks in. I nod and follow him inside. I shut the door behind me. “What is it, Natalie?” “There was this guy that was in the house I woke up in before I arrived here. ” “Do you know who this guy is?” I hesitate, “No.” I’m afraid if I say his name, Ramon is going to catch onto the fact that I’m remembering things. Judging by the way Dr. Peters runs this place; he’s going to tell her everything. She’s already thinks I’m onto them so; I need to watch what I say. “Okay then, what’s the problem?” “I need to see him.” He walks behind his desk and picks up the phone. He says, “Yes, I need you down here.” to the other person on the phone. I hope that was Bryan on the other line. I don’t know why I’m starting to get nervous. Well, actually I do know. He’s hurt me in the past, obviously. So, what if he wants to hurt me again? I know he’s not scared to do it. Hell, he probably wouldn’t even hesitate and that terrifies me. It’s so scary to confront someone you only know through certain memories. I still don’t know him. All I really know about him is that he used to hurt me. That’s not really something you want to know about someone, that’s for sure. The door opens and Dr. Peters walks in. I’m guessing she was the person on the other line. I figured that would happen. Let’s hope this conversation goes well. “You want to meet with your previous owner?” She asks, suspiciously. I nod. “Yes, talking to my former owner would help me get some type of memory back. Don’t you think?” “After what happened, I’m not sure if he’d want to see you. You were a little aggressive.” She smiles. “Aggressive? Please, I was scared and I didn’t know where I was. I’m sure you would’ve reacted the same way given the situation.” She walks over to Ramon and whispers something to him. She turns around and heads toward the door. Before she opens it she says, “By the way, I would have cooperated. It would’ve been the smart thing to do given the situation.” She walks out. Ramon and I end up staring at each other for next hour and a half. I think he’s reading me, trying to figure out if I’m hiding something or not. I mean, I am hiding a lot, but I hope I’m doing an excellent job at not showing any sign of it. I can’t really say anything either because I’m reading him too. Trying to see if he gives any signs of what Dr. Peters is up to. Is she going to talk to Bryan or is she going to throw me in somewhere because she knows what I’m really doing? So far, he’s doing a pretty good job with showing absolutely no signs of anything. His phone rings and he answers. When he hangs up, he stands up and walks over to the door. As he opens the door, he tells me to follow him. I quickly get up and do as he says. When we reach the double doors that take us out of this section of unit 3, there’s a group of people in scrubs including Jayden, along with Dr. Peters amongst them. They open the door for us and let us through. “Why all the people, Dr. Peters?” I smile as I continue walking. “Oh, it’s just a safety precaution.” She responds. We walk up the stairs and start walking towards the exit. I didn’t realize I had to leave Unit 3 in order to meet Bryan. When we stop at the doors for them to unlock it, Jayden slips a note into my hand. I look out of the corner of my eye to read it. They ordered him to torture you in order to keep you from continuing to investigate. My heart starts racing as I glance at Jayden. Well, it’s too late to back out now. I take a deep breath and continue walking with everyone. Then I realize that this is the first I’ve been out of unit 3 since the day I arrived. They stop in front of a door and push it open. It’s the room they put me in before I even knew what unit 3 was. Suddenly, I don’t feel so good. This was probably a bad idea. “You’ll stay in here and wait for him to arrive.” Dr. Peters says. I nod and walk in. I turn around to say something, but they already closed the door. And of course I can’t get out because I discovered that the last time. © 2016 Destiny GlennAuthor's Note
