Nothing

Hiatus, as always, just an outlet into the void.

Suffice to say that at the end of life we all take wing,

And at the end of the day, all we are is nothing.

Friends that you won't burden with your pain.

Roads you walked you go down yet again.

So many nights serving the desires of those closest to you,

So many things you were never permitted to do,

Projects to complete, hobbies to learn, songs to sing.

But at the end of the day, all we are is nothing.

Who do you turn to when everyone turns to you for advice?

Who do you be nasty to, when everyone only knows you as nice?

Sights to see, a veritable wealth of experience you have yet to bring,

But don't you see it by now, at the end of the day, you are nothing.

Libation leads to contemplation leads to strangulation.

How dare you ever believe to live above your station?

Look at those around you, and internalize the truest sting,

Compared to them, you are, and will always be, nothing.

I go now to see what value Anubis places against my feather,

No longer to see the fairest or most tumultuous of weather.

I've realized the truth, the circle, the endless meaning of life, the ring.

That which all hold to be true, from birth to death, that I am absolutely nothing.

Not friend, not lover, not parent, nor child. Not partner, nor sibling.

At the end of my life, I've become finally myself, and that self is nothing.
