As he talks, the words fill the diary.
ROBERT HART
They tell me to do things.

ROBERT HART (CONT'D)
I am a sin against God.
Camera pans down the diary as the rest is already written.
ROBERT HART (CONT'D)
I do not know why I have been
tortured with this devils gift. Why
I have seemed to gain his favor
when my faith goes to our Lord. My
whole life, I have fought these
demons, or try to calm them. I know
they do not lie to me. I wish it
were so, but I can feel their rage,
their pain and agony. Oh Lord, I
have been faithful. I have tried.
But by the end of this day, I will
be sent to Hell. Forgive me God. I
must give in to their call, their
purpose. But before I die, there is
something I must do. I am going to
kill a prophet.
The diary is signed, then subtitle appears: The Last Journal
Entry of Robert Hart, 1692 AD
EXT. STREETS OF PURITAN VILLAGE - MORNING
The ladders and items are hoisted up. A man is being bounded
to the materials.
Anito (Middle-aged, overweight, not the most attractive man
out there) is pacing back in forth, like a lion overlooking
his prey. Behind him, is an angry mob of puritans
(brainwashed idiots).
MOB MEMBERS
Kill Him!/Burn Him!/Burn The Witch!
(Etc.)
Anito seems to be drinking it in.
Camera shifts, Anito is now facing Robert Hart (whom is now
facing the camera) facing the camera.
ANITO
Robert Reginald Hart! You, have
been accused of witch-craft!
This sentence elicits a major response from the audience.
ANITO (CONT'D)
You have been found guilty.
ROBERT HART
Anito! Stop! I demand a trial!
ANITO
(to the people)
What say you?
MOB MEMBERS
(negative responses, some hateful)
ANITO
You are no longer a member of our
society, as such, I see no purpose
for a trial, especially with a case
of witchery as clear cut as yours.
You have signed your allegiances
with the devil! I dare not let you
enter God's house and spill out
your lies.
ROBERT HART
I feared you would kill me. Just
like...you killed her.
ANITO
What?
ROBERT HART
Ellis Richmond.
Anito looks shocked. (Robert hit a cord.)
ANITO
I have no idea what you are saying.
ROBERT HART
I am sure you all remember her! She
was the girl who organized the
female baptisms. I am sure you all
remember the shock of when her body
was found, tortured and beaten, and
dead. (shooting Anito an evil look)
This is the man who killed her!
Anito is feeling weak, to recover...
ANITO
He lies! He is trying to use
trickery!
ROBERT HART
Last friday. It was at the lake.
She went for a stroll with her
boyfriend. And you were there. You
always wanted her, but you could
never have her. After all what
would the villagers think, their
own leader lusting for a teenager?
A married leader at that. His
little brother came and called him
home. That is where you made your
advances.
Anito's eyes are widening.
ROBERT HART (CONT'D)
She kicked, she screamed. But you
had to have your way with her. You
even told her, you have lusted on
her the day you first saw her and
that she should be honored. You
even tried to bribe her that night.
You claimed, you can make her
disappear and the people would love
you for it.
ANITO
(gasping)
How...
ROBERT HART
Like you made all those others
disappeared. The judge who mocked
you, the man who refused to give
you his land.
All these people who died in this
village, under your rule, none of
them were witches.
ANITO
They are all in league with each
other! Silence you fowl.
Anito grabs a torch.
ANITO (CONT'D)
I hereby sentence you, to burn. May
the fire cleanse the sin you have
brought upon our people.
The mob gets riled up some more.
The fires are lit.
ANITO (CONT'D)
(taunting)
Any last words!?
The fire is consuming Robert Hart.
Anito begins to walk away. He needs a break.
ELLIS (O.S.)
Don't walk away from me.
Anito stops, turns around. Where Robert Hart once was, Ellis
is now, in his place.
The people in the town are frightened.
ANITO
...no...
ELLIS
You murdered me. You even
threatened to harm my innocent
Charley. You beat me with your
fists! Then you strangled me!
Ellis' arm comes loose from the shackles and points accusing
at him.
ANITO
This is trickery!
ELLIS
You would believe that wouldn't
you. Come now, don't I look
beautiful?
This is what awaits you Anito. Look
around my body, these flames want
you!
She waves for him to come close.
ANITO
(gaining courage)
You cannot harm me.
ELLIS
Oh?
ANITO
God is on my side.
Ellis turns into Robert Hart.
Roberts eyes are glowing, a white smoke pouring out of them.
ROBERT HART
(in a voice screaming from
the void)
Justice is mine!
Robert Hart lifts him up with his one arm, body still on fire
and the two look each other in they eyes.
ROBERT HART (CONT'D)
See what I see!
Anito drops on the floor, starts to scramble up.
The fire has finally defeated Robert Hart. He stops moving.
Anito looks up, he smiles, it is all over.
MOB MEMBERS
("unsure of what to make
of it" sounds)
ANITO
It's over. Thank God it is over.
The people are milling over what happened.
GHOST OF MAN (O.S.)
You killed him too.
Anito looks curiously.
GHOST OF MAN (O.S.) (CONT'D)
You killed him, just like you
killed us.
The camera focuses on Ghost Of Man behind Anito. Anito turns
around.
GHOST OF MAN (CONT'D)
You can hear me, can't you?
GHOST OF JUDGE
I only was trying to do my job.
GHOST OF WOMAN
So what if I called you a pompous
jerk?
They start walking toward him.
ANITO
You have the wrong guy.
GHOST OF TEENAGE MALE
So what if I was a slacker?!
GHOST OF TEEN GIRL
Was me not being a virgin that
being of a deal?
ANITO
Stay away!
The people look on, there are no ghosts.
ANITO (CONT'D)
I said stay back!
More ghosts appear. Each with their own horror tale.
Tbey keep coming closer.
ANITO (CONT'D)
Away I say! I command thee!
More ghosts appear, they come quicker. They are swarming.
The people see Anito swinging his arms, trying to keep no one
back.
MOB MEMBER
He cursed him!
MOB MEMBERS
(Agreeing that Robert put a curse
on Anito)
Anito is on his knees, a ring of ghosts surround him. He
takes his hands off his face, an insane smile on his face. It
turns quickly to fear.
The circle moves in, tighter, and as he...
ANITO
(Screaming for the torment
to end)
...the camera zooms out into the heavens.
Opening Credits:
Cue: The Ghost Theme Song
"The heaves" are dark ominious clouds and big letters form
from the depths behind them:
"THE GHOST"
Then in beautifull cursive; "Origins"
Opening credits begin.
INT. HART RESIDENTS, LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
A Mother and Father are talking outside the room as Baby Rick
is in crib by himself in the background. Mother is crying.
As Rick is by himself, the words: "Rick Hart" appear. (That's
right, he is a direct descendant.)
FATHER
It's alright.
MOTHER
It's not fair!
Father embraces Mother.
MOTHER (CONT'D)
I can still feel her, as if she was
still inside me.
KID RICK (V.O.)
It started ever since I could
remember.
FATHER
It's all right, we still have our
one child.
MEDICINE MAN (V.O.)
Who is she?
MOTHER
I even had this beautiful name
picked out for her. I would have
named her...
KID RICK (V.O.)
She says her name is Malina.
Baby Rick spies Baby Malina (Malina is a ghost).
MEDICINE MAN (V.O.)
And do you see her now?
Rick looks at her, she somewhat looks back (she is a newborn
ghost, if that makes sense). Rick smiles, as if he knows they
are connected.
KID RICK (V.O.)
Yes.
Mother walks to Baby Rick.
MOTHER
I'm sorry, but, it looks like you
wont be having a...(she breaks
down)
KID RICK (V.O.)
She claims she is my sister. And, I
believe her.
INT. HART RESIDENCE - DAY
Some time has passed, months or maybe a year or two. Baby
Rick and Baby Malina are like two babies playing.
Father walks in.
Baby Rick is playing with no one.
FATHER
What a strange child.
MOTHER
(joking)
Don't say that about our son!
She looks, Baby Rick is laughing at nothing.
INT. RICKS BEDROOM - NIGHT
Rick is older, Mother is tucking him in.
MOTHER
Good night, Honey.
CHILD RICK
Night mom.
The mother starts to walk away...
CHILD RICK (CONT'D)
Night Manina (Malina).
The mother stops in horror.
CUT TO:
EXT. HIGHWAY - MORNING
A Car passes by, years have passed as Kid Rick is in the car
with his family.
INT. CAR - MORNING
The car feels like there is enough room separating the
backseats from the front. Kid Rick and Kid Malina (still a
ghost) are in their own universe, as the parents are in
theirs, ignorant for the most part of each other.
FATHER
So, you think we should see a
doctor?
MOTHER
I don't want to do that to our boy.
FATHER
But he might be ill.
MOTHER
He is just playing?
FATHER
He has been seeing people since he
first leaned to speak.
MOTHER
It's his imagination.
FATHER
I told you about my grandfather.
MOTHER
Yes. You always talk about him.
FATHER
Dementia or whatever you want to
call it, it runs in my side of the
family. There is a history of it.
MOTHER
Our Rick is not...
FATHER
The other day, his newest imaginary
friend claimed he was killed with
an axe. This isn't normal for a kid
to be imagining this!
Kid Rick has apparently heard this.
KID RICK
He just needed someone to talk to.
FATHER
I want him to see a doctor.
MOTHER
Please, let me have a talk with
him. After this trip. If he is
still talking to himself, we will
get him some help.
Meanwhile in the back. Kid Malina is sitting next to Kid
Rick. Kid Rick seems to be hurt by what his father has said
and...is reflecting.
KID MALINA
I have never seen the snow.
KID RICK
Are you real?
KID MALINA
What?
KID RICK
Are you just an imaginary friend?
KID MALINA
Rick...
KID RICK
Who are you?
KID MALINA
I have been with you for both our
lives...
KID RICK
Who are you!?
KID MALINA
I'm Malina.
KID RICK
How do you know your name? I
haven't seen anyone name you. Did
you name yourself?
KID MALINA
No.
KID RICK
Then?
KID MALINA
I don't know. I just know it's my
name. Like you know your name is
yours.
KID RICK
So, why are you here? Why do you
follow me?
KID MALINA
Because...you're my brother.
KID RICK
What?
EXT. HIGHWAY - MORNING
The car turns the corner.
INT. CAR - MORNING
Kid Rick is now looking at the window, she has no reflection.
KID MALINA
I am your sister Rick.
KID RICK
How do I know your not my
imagination?
KID MALINA
Because, I know I am real. I could
ask you the same question.
KID RICK
But people can see me!
KID MALINA
And you can see me!
Father is looking at the mirror. Kid Rick is talking to the
window, turns around and appears to be in a heated,
inaudible, argument with no one next to him.
FATHER
That boy needs help.
MOTHER
Hush, maybe this change of scenery
will do good for him.
EXT. SNOWY TOWN - MORNING
The car pulls up to a high mountain village.
EXT. CAR - MORNING
Kid Rick gets out. Something seems to be on his mind. As the
family gets ready to set out, Kid Malina phases through the
door.
EXT. TOWN SQUARE - MORNING
The family is huddled together as they move.
(Strategically placed in the scenes to come till the end of
act 1, are ghosts hidden unless looked for by the audience)
EXT. RESTORAUNT - MORNING
They see a restaurant and look at the food, they are hungry.
INT. RESTORAUNT - MORNING
They are eating.
INT. BOOKSTORE - DAY
The parents are looking at books.
Elsewhere, Kid Rick is looking at books of his own (not
picture books either) not paying attention to Kid Malina.
She slams her hand across one of them, a book slightly moves,
then falls causing a chain reaction.
KID MALINA
Sorry.
Kid Rick gives her "the look."
EXT. TOWN SQUARE - AFTERNOON
FATHER
You know, they say some of the old
tribesmen refused to leave this
land as the white man came, and
some still live here.
MOTHER
Oh honey.
FATHER
They say they this small town was
once a big village for the native
americans.
KID MALINA
Rick, will you at least talk to
me!?
KID RICK
No, now leave me alone!
FATHER
You alright son?
KID RICK
Just the wind.
Kid Malina looks like she is about to cry.
KID MALINA
I'm just...the wind?
Father notices Medicine Man and his Assistant at a small
stand shop of souvenirs.
FATHER
Pardon me.
ASSISTANT
Hello, how may we help you?
FATHER
I am just browsing.
MOTHER
Oh, this looks nice. What's with
the webs?
ASSISTANT
That is a dream catcher, it filters
out the bad dreams and catches
them. If you have one, you will
never have a nightmare again with
that around.
MOTHER
Oh how pretty.
The Medicine Man spies Rick.
MEDICINE MAN
I... I know you.
KID RICK
Me?
He just nods.
FATHER
What is this?
The Medicine Man whispers into his assistants ear as he
finishes.
MEDICINE MAN
(Coughs)
ASSISTANT
My father is very sick. He is very
old.
FATHER
What did he say?
ASSISTANT
He said...your son is truly born
from your families genes.
Kid Rick glances at the Medicine Man who himself seems to
have an aura to him.
KID RICK
What is this pressure?
KID MALINA
Pressure?
KID RICK
Tell me, do you feel it too?
KID MALINA
I feel...(she is feeling excess
spirit energy, like she is stronger
here.)
KID RICK
(to the Medicine Man)
Something horrible happened here?
Didn't it?
FATHER
Come on, nothing good here.
He pulls Kid Rick leave. The other two follow.
MOTHER
What is wrong?
FATHER
He said our son is like our...
MOTHER
That doesn't mean anything.
EXT. MOTEL - EVENING
Father is talking to the Innkeeper. Mother is talking to
Father fearing Father might be too proud for certain prices.
Kid Rick is staring off in the distance.
Assistant appears from around the corner. He makes a movement
for Kid Rick to follow him.
Kid Malina looks at Kid Rick and notices he leaves as if in a
trance.
EXT. OUTSIDE TOWN
Kid Rick is following. So is Kid Malina
KID MALINA
Where are we going?
KID RICK
I don't know.
KID MALINA
You don't know!?
ASSISTANT
It isn't that much farther.
The woods are getting thick.
KID MALINA
Rick, I am scared.
KID RICK
It will be alright, sis.
Kid Malina smiles. He admitted she is his sister.
KID RICK (CONT'D)
I can sense it.
EXT. FORREST CLEARING - NIGHT
Medicine Man is on a log, out of the circle is an old tent.
Probably where he lives.
KID RICK
(not scared)
So, you wanted to see me?
MEDICINE MAN
I know you.
KID RICK
You told me that before.
ASSISTANT
What he means is, he knew your
great grandfather.
MEDICINE MAN
Sit, Mr. Hart.
Kid Rick and Kid Malina sit down.
ASSISTANT
He met him a long time ago, before
I was born and my dad was not much
older then you. His name was Herman
Hart.
KID RICK
Tell me something new.
MEDICINE MAN
He spoke to spirits.
KID RICK
What?
MEDICINE MAN
You too, speak to spirits. I sense
one is bonded to you.
Kid Rick looks at Kid Malina.
KID MALINA
I can't pass on, until you die.
FADE TO BLACK:
FADE IN:
EXT. CLEARING - NIGHT
This is where the beginning of the movie conversation ended,
as the previous scene began the convo.
KID RICK
So, how did you meet him?
ASSISTANT
Your great grandfather, Herman. He
saved this village before it became
the snow-lodge it is today. Once a
powerful landowner came and tried
to buy this place. My father and
grandfather refused to leave. Our
people no longer owned the rights
to the land due to the reservations
that we were supposed to be
assigned to. This guy merely used
the zoning and wanting to throw the
residence out by force.
MEDICINE MAN
Herman Hart was a strong man. He
fought David for our home.
ASSISTANT
He claimed, my fathers ancestors
told him to fight.
KID RICK
Who won?
ASSISTANT
Who else? David committed suicide.
And Herman left as mysteriously as
he came.
MEDICINE MAN
He gave me this.
He holds up an arrow.
MEDICINE MAN (CONT'D)
Told me it was from an old ancestor
of mine.
KID RICK
What does this have to do with me?
MEDICINE MAN
The Hart line, runs deep. Deep into
"Dawn of Creation."
Medicine Man whispers into Assistant's ear.
ASSISTANT
He says, there are two worlds. The
living plane and the spiritual one.
They exist as one. As such, there
is a harmony to them. Order and
balance.
MEDICINE MAN
There is always one. One Hart.
KID RICK
And what does my sister have to do
with this?
MEDICINE MAN
She your guardian.
KID RICK
How so?
Medicine man whispers and coughs some more.
ASSISTANT
The Hart family line is the chosen
line. They are in harmony with the
two worlds, and they keep them from
harming each other.
Medicine Man picks up a bowl of incense, and passes it to Kid
Rick.
The bowl has smoke coming out of it.
MEDICINE MAN
Breathe.
Kid Rick breathes, at once his eyes glow, they keep glowing
until a white smoke comes from them (just like Robert Hart's)
KID MALINA
(scolding)
Rick your eyes.
Kid Rick tries to hide them.
MEDICINE MAN
Don't hide.
KID RICK
Why not? It's not normal. I always
hide them.
MEDICINE MAN
They prove who you are. Your
destiny.
KID RICK
What is that?
MEDICINE MAN
You also guardian. Dead cannot
speak, but you do. You help them.
You keep order. No one else will.
Everything, people, artifacts, all
connect to both sides. (starts
coughing again.)
Kid Rick uncovers his eyes, (awakening from his youthful
slumber).
KID RICK
So, spiritual energy resides
everywhere. That energy, it can be
harnessed, but it can also be
abused.
MEDICINE MAN
You will learn in time. Your
calling is lonely. Your sister, she
is here to help, she help you carry
your burden. But it is your's
alone.
KID RICK
I understand.
EXT. FORREST - NIGHT
Kid Rick is walking as if in a haze. Kid Malina is self
reflecting.
KID MALINA
This place is giving me the creeps.
I think we might be lost.
A wolf walks towards them.
Kid Rick just stares at it.
EXT. TOWN EDGE - NIGHT
The wolf is walking ahead, Kid Rick is still looking in his
dazed state.
EXT. TOWN SQUARE - NIGHT
People are gathered. They see a wolf.
TOWN MEMBER
Is that a wolf?
TOWN MEMBER 2
Move back.
The wolf seems like it doesn't care.
MOTHER
Rick!?
Kid Rick is behind them.
FATHER
Stay back, he might be in danger.
As if the wolf knows it has delivered the kid into the hands
of his parents, it parts.
The parents rush to Kid Rick
MOTHER
Oh my son, my son, my son.
FATHER
Where have you been!?
MOTHER
(almost scolding)
You weren't playing with those
friends of yours, where you?
KID RICK
They weren't real mom. I never
really saw them. They are just my
imagination.
Kid Rick gives Kid Malina a wink.
As the camera faces Kid Rick his eyes glow. (He has accepted
his destiny. *End of Act 1)
EXT. SCHOOL YARD - DAY
Boards are being put up. Construction is being done.
Kid Rick (a strange maturity lies within him, he is no longer
the kid he now pretends to be) and Ben (Kid Rick's best
friend) are putting together a play office, a booth to be
precise complete with sign.
Kid Malina looks to her side, ghosts seem to appear in line.
She nods to her brother.
KID MALINA
Okay, one at a time. This may take
awhile, I am just giving you all a
heads up.
BEN
So, looks like we did it.
KID RICK
And not a moment to soon. Let's set
up shop.
BEN
Recess is almost over.
The bell rings.
INT. CLASS ROOM - DAY
The teacher is writing on the board, the class looks bored.
Kid Rick is speaking with a ghost.
TEACHER
Is there something you want to say
Rick?
Kid Rick stops.
Everyone is turned to him.
KID RICK
Um, no?
KID MALINA
Smooth Rick.
Kid Rick gets a piece of paper and scrawls on it, "Who killed
you?"
As Kid Rick is paying attention, the ghost takes control of
his hand and Kid Rick's hand starts writing despite being
focused on what the teacher is saying.
EXT. SCHOOL YARD - MORNING
Ben gets up.
BEN
Rick's agency is open!
Some kids move over to Ben who is acting as a secretary.
While on the other side Kid Malina is acting as a secretary
for ghosts.
MONTAGE OF PEOPLE AND GHOSTS IN FRONT OF RICK'S AGENCY.
CHILD 1
Excuse me, my lizard has gone
missing.
GHOST OF OLD WOMAN
I need you to write a message to my
babies.
CHILD 2
Someone stole my bike!
GHOST OF YOUNG MAN
I was murdered by my girl.
GHOST OF TEENAGER
My dad still beats on my brother.
Can you get help him get out?
Please?
EXT. SCHOOL YARD
The time of day and seasons slowly change in the background.
The line, is getting shorter and shorter.
EXT. SCHOOL YARD - AFTERNOON
A sign says: "closed"
KID MALINA
That is the last one Rick. Are we
done?
KID RICK
Well that game was fun Ben. Thanks.
BEN
So, did you help those people?
KID RICK
Which ones?
BEN
The pretended cases.
CUT TO:
FLASHBACK
INT. HOUSE
Abusive father is beating his teenage son.
Cops bust down door.
Abusive Father gets mad, before he could do anything, he gets
tackled.
INT. COURTHOUSE.
Kid Rick, Kid Malina, and Ghost of Teenager are watching the
trial.
The abusive father gets sentenced.
He goes crazy, and is restrained out of the courtroom.
As Teenage Son feels bad, His Mother comes and gives him a
hug.
GHOST OF TEENAGER
Thank you Rick.
He fades away.
INT. PHONEBOOTH - DAY
Kid Rick is on the phone, whispering secretively.
EXT. VILLAINESS HOUSE - NIGHT
The place is swarmed with cops.
They find a dead body.
Cops look at Girlfriend, she is shocked.
They arrest her.
Among the crowd of spectators, Kid Rick, Kid Malina and Ghost
of Young Man are there.
CUT TO: END
FLASHBACK
EXT. SCHOOL YARD - AFTERNOON
Kid Rick seems to think about it.
KID RICK
(with a smile)
Yes.
INT. HART RESIDENCE, RICK'S ROOM - NIGHT
Kid Rick is sitting on his bed. Kid Malina is standing by his
side.
KID RICK
So, another Sherlock before we go
to bed?
KID MALINA
Please?
KID RICK
Okay, where did we leave off?
KID MALINA
I believe we are on "The Return Of
Sherlock Holmes."
KID RICK
We are that far?
KID MALINA
It's the last book, right?
KID RICK
I think so, though I heard from my
English teacher the other day that
there is a full on book, the "Hound
Of the Baskervilles" or something.
KID MALINA
We are on the third adventure.
Kid Rick gets up to his book case.
Picks up an old fashioned looking book.
He goes back to his bed and sits upright.
KID RICK
(Reading)
The Adventure of the...
Kid Rick starts reading.
INT. HART RESIDENCE, OUTSIDE RICK'S ROOM - NIGHT
Mother is walking by, she hears Kid Rick reading out loud.
She opens the door quietly.
KID RICK
(Reading very
professionally, and
interestingly)
MOTHER
Conan Doyle? He's so smart.
She walks off.
INT. HART RESIDENTS, LIVING ROOM
Kid Rick and Ben are playing cards, his parents are listening
to the radio as they read. Behind Ben, Kid Malina is reading
his cards.
KID MALINA
Three two's.
KID RICK
Do you have any two's?
BEN
Go fish!
KID MALINA
He's lying.
KID RICK
You're cheating.
BEN
No I'm not.
KID RICK
Show me your cards!
BEN
No!
KID RICK
Then I get another go.
KID MALINA
He also has a Queen.
KID RICK

RADIO ANNOUNCER
In other news, M. has struck again.
The police have received another
anonymous tip from an individual
identifying himself only as M. Over
the past two years, M.
has reportedly called the police
with information that has led to
arrests of murderers, kidnappers,
robbers, and even slave
traffickers.
KID RICK
Can we stop playing. I want to
listen to this.
KID MALINA
(Laughing)
RADIO ANNOUNCER
This has led police to devise a
small task force with the sole
purpose of finding the identity of
this informant. They feel that
these coincidences may be more then
that. As such some have speculated
that M is in fact behind these
crimes. Some even wonder if M is
short for the fictitious Professor
Moriarity from the Holmes tales who
as the character goes, created such
a viscous web of crime with himself
involved in all.
BEN
My mom talked about this guy the
other day. She thinks its some sort
of ace detective. Though why call
himself M?
Kid Rick laughs as he gets a paper and pencil. He writes on
it.
KID RICK
It's short for...
Ben picks up the paper.
BEN
(reading)
MR. E?
Kid Rick and Kid Malina laughs as Ben does not get it.
BEN (CONT'D)

KID MALINA
(using wordplay, cracking
herself up)

supposed to be the ultimate nemesis
of Holmes. They have two
adventures together, and in both
cases, neither of them reference

Kid Rick is looking at the teachers notes. It is the same
teacher, but obviously some time has passed.

Rick, I have someone who wants to

TEACHER
So, in two days, we will be
celebrating Halloween. Feel free to
bring whatever costumes. Now... on
to math.
Ghost of a Father is led through the wall by Kid Malina.

KID RICK

KID MALINA
This is Rick, he will be taking
care of your case.
TEACHER

Kid Rick takes out some paper.
He pats it hard with a pencil. Ghost of a Father gets the
message.
The note says, "How can I help you?"
TEACHER (CONT'D)
Now let us begin.
As she starts writing some notes she hears...
Scribbling sounds. She turns her head.
Kid Rick looks her square in the eye.
TEACHER (CONT'D)
Now. We are still learning the
complexities of the multiplications
tables....Rick Hart what are you
doing!?
KID RICK
Nothing.
His hand is going crazy. There is a passion to how his hand
is ghostwriting.
TEACHER
Stop it.
KID RICK
Stop what?
As if making an exclamation point, the hand goes up and stabs
the paper with a loud sound.
TEACHER
Ever since I have known you...let
me read it.
KID RICK
Read what?
He slowly gazes down on the note.
The teacher is coming over.
His eyes go wide.
The note says: "He is going to kill my family!"
The teacher takes a brief quick glimpse of the note.
Kid Rick grabs the note and quickly rips it to peices.
TEACHER
That is it. I am sick of your
attitude, Mister. You are going to
detention when school is over. And
when that is over, you and I, and
your parents are going to have a
talk about your consistently bad
behavior.
INT. DETENTION ROOM - AFTERNOON
Kid Rick is mad that he is in detention and for all reasons,
he isn't allowed to talk.
KID MALINA
Okay Rick, you want me to take
over?
Kid Rick nods.
KID MALINA (CONT'D)
Okay, so...(getting into
character)... tell me everything,
every minute detail. Nothing is
unimportant. What happened?
GHOST OF A FATHER
It started three months ago. I just
got my new position at the
hospital. No real increase in pay.
However, I think someone thought
differently because they tried to
identity theft me.
KID MALINA
Who?
GHOST OF A FATHER
I don't know. He was an odd man
though.
KID MALINA
Continue.
GHOST OF A FATHER
Well at first, it was slight
inconsistencies with our money. 10
dollars short with my account, 15
there...but then, it started
becoming serious. I thought at the
time, it was just simply
mismanagement on the banks part.
But then I found car payments for a
car I didn't even own. When I went
to look, that b*****d took money
out of my son's college funds!
House payments? Loans? I started
getting all these bills and
invoices for stuff I haven't done!
So... I made a report to the
police.
KID MALINA
What happened with the report?
GHOST OF A FATHER
They think they found the guy, but
no proof.
Anyways, I changed the information
and shut down that account.
KID MALINA
Nice.
GHOST OF A FATHER
But...the next day, I got a call.
It was him. He even identified
himself. He told me to unfreeze the
account. He actually demanded that
I unfreeze my own account so he
could get money! I naturally told
him to cry me a river. And hung up.
I came home the next day, and...I
caught him in the act.
KID MALINA
What act?
GHOST OF A FATHER
I walked in, there was a ransom
note. A ransom note for my
family...the price was more then I
even had. But before I could do
anything, I heard a crash. He was
still in the house! I ran after him
and I saw him with my son, bound
and gagged. I moved towards him
and...
KID MALINA
And...?
GHOST OF A FATHER
He was scared, he hit me with...and
then I died. My house was burned
down. They didn't find my body so
they think I up and left. I don't
know what happened, but I don't
think the police even know I am
dead or that my family is
kidnapped.
KID MALINA
How do you know they are still
alive.
GHOST OF A FATHER
I can feel them. I know it sounds
corny.
Kid Malina looks at Kid Rick, he nods his head.
KID MALINA
(extending her ghostly
hand.)
We will take your case.
KID RICK
(leaning and whispering)
Your family is as good as safe.
KID MALINA
Are we in over our heads on this
one?
Kid Rick shakes his head.
KID RICK

(reference to Irene Adler, the first person to defeat

Kid Rick, Kid Malina and Ghost of a Father are around the
place.

Now, you are sure, the police
believed they could identify the
I.D. Theif?

That is what they told me, however
they would not let me look at it.
KID RICK
That is all I need to know. I think
the most obvious conclusion is that
this man is your killer and
kidnapper. And you said you failed
to report his contacting you?

Then I take it the police have not
given him a second look after their
last encounter with him unless some
developments have happened in your

The phone book slams on the table. Kid Rick opens it up.

We are heading to the outskirts of

The teacher is giving instructions.
Kid Rick looks on, there is a field of extremely high and
rotted grass and plants, and at the center, an old ugly run
down house.

Camera pans across the house. It's creepy.

He runs across to a window. In the distance, he can see kids.
Paranoia kicks in and he grabs his gun.
The two hostages are getting scared.

Who is he talking to? What is his deal? He twitches (Okay he
is insane as hell)
Out of the window, Kid Rick looks on. Cosmo walks away as if
not noticing Kid Rick, as he disappears the two ghosts are by
his side.

INT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
The inside of the house is extremely dim. (It comes off very
sickly.) The Laughing Child waltzes through.
KID MALINA
(chanting)
Oh my god.
The Laughing Child stops and looks at the upper floor
ceiling. There is loud walking.
Making eye contact, he points up, Kid Malina nods.
KID MALINA (CONT'D)
Okay.
She flies up and phases through the ceiling.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, UPSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
Kid Malina phases through right under and behind Cosmo.
In the corner, Ghost of a Father comes out of the room. He
sees Kid Malina and is shocked.
KID MALINA
(whispering)
He's downstairs.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS ROOM - AFTERNOON
The Laughing Child looks around.
THE LAUGHING CHILD
What a messy place.
He opens a cabinet.
There are nothing but pathetic looking pictures of Cosmo. In
the middle, a mirror.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
Wow. That's just sad.
He picks one up.
It seems to be cutting off someone. His parents? Family?
He looks at another, this one seems to be a part of a big
picture but others are taken out. Just Cosmo.
He looks down, the shadow of an object hitting the ground.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
(as a sundial)
Running out of time.
KID MALINA (O.S.)
RICK!
INT. EVIL HOUSE, UPSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
COSMO
(yelling at the family)
Why do you keep whining!? Your
husband? He won't save you! No no
no, he is not coming.
Okay, he isn't coming. You know
where he is...he's dead. Yeah, he
is so, dead. You like that. You
like me telling you he is dead.
He rips her gag out.
A MOTHER
Please...
COSMO
You want me to tell you more?
A MOTHER
...no.
COSMO
Then shut up! I see you. I see you
trying to talk. You think that gag
won't...you hate me. When I turn my
back, you would kill me!
He sees his gun. Grabs it and pulls her hair to the floor.
The gun points downward.
COSMO (CONT'D)
This is all his fault. He wanted me
homeless.
Will he shoot?
KID MALINA
Oh dear god!
THE LAUGHING CHILD (O.S.)
(creepy laughing)
COSMO
Huh?
Realizing there is something in the house, like a trance...
COSMO (CONT'D)
I forgive you.
He walks off.
He walks by Kid Malina
KID MALINA
Rick, he's coming.
As if on cue, there is a loud clutter.
COSMO
Who's there?
Sound of glass breaking.
More glass breaking.
As he runs downstairs, with a worried look, she phases
through the floor.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
Cosmo runs down the stairs, very loudly.
COSMO
Who dares intrude upon my space?
He slowly turns the corner to the "picture room."
In shock, all his pictures are smashed on the floor, the
whole place is torn up.
In the background we see The Laughing Child bolt out a back
door to the main hallway.
COSMO (CONT'D)
NO!
THE LAUGHING CHILD (O.S.)
(Laughing his creepy
laugh)
In the main hall... Kid Malina stops in front of The Laughing
Child.
He nods his head.
KID MALINA
I hate doing this...
She seems to concentrate and...all the power goes out.
In the Picture room, Cosmo notices the lights go out.
The Laughing Child slowly creeps upstairs.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, UPSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
The Laughing Child, with his eyes completely glowing is
walking the halls.
A MOTHER (O.S.)
Someone, is anyone there?
The Laughing Child's eyes seem to turn the corner in the
darkness.
A SON
Who's that?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
You might not believe me, but your
father sent me.
Kid Malina runs in.
KID MALINA
He's coming back!
GHOST OF A FATHER
He is?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
I'll stall the man...
KID MALINA
There is a window at the back, its
open. Iit has a tree that leads to
the ground.
THE LAUGHING CHILD
While I stall him. You head out,
there is a room in the back, you
can make your escape from there.
Like that, he has undone the ropes.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
Keith is it?
A SON
Yes?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
Your father told me he was proud of
your last grade report...and that
he was sorry he was pressuring you
to become a medical doctor like
him. Stay put for now.
Meanwhile, in the halls. He hears a noise coming from a the
back room.
He kicks open the door.
There are blinds over on the window.
At the back of the wall, Kid Malina is feeling weak and
laying on the wall.
As he walks in more...two bright glowing white eyes appear.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
(using his scary voice)
Don't turn around.
COSMO
Who are you?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(M)
I may have once been
human...(starts doing that creepy
laugh)
COSMO
I am about to shoot you.
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(M)
How do you know I don't have a gun.
COSMO
Why are you here?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
Justice. Justice for the man you
killed. If you want to kill me. I
will be waiting.
COSMO
Huh?
The creepy eyes leave.
In the distance he hears...
THE LAUGHING CHILD (O.S.)
(M)
Kill me if you can! (Laughs)
Then loud footsteps...he is going down the stairs!
Crazy Cosmo exits the room, and stares beyond his gun down
the stairs. The lack of lighting makes the whole thing feel
ominous.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
As he finishes going downstairs...he hears the sounds of cars
outside.
He runs to a window. He pears weakly out of one of the holes
in the weird covers...
There are police cars, several of them parking outside.
Instinctively He pulls out his gun and shoots.
EXT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
The cops jump instantly.
COP 1
Everyone stay back!
COSMO
I have Three hostages! Don't come
closer!
Teacher and class walk up.
TEACHER
What is going on, I thought I
heard...
COP 2
Get these kids out of here!
TEACHER
What's going on?
COP 2
We have a hostage situation.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
COSMO
More people?!
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(M)
The time for games is over, you can
walk outside now, give yourself up.
Or...
COSMO
Or what?
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(M)
I send you to hell. (Laughing)
This triggers the wrong response. He fires in the air.
COSMO
Come and get me!
Fires again.
COSMO (CONT'D)
Come on!
EXT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
A big crowd has started to gather.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, UPSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
A MOTHER
This is our chance!
The two of them walk and open up the window.
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
The place is completely dark.
KID MALINA
He's coming this way. Hide.
The bright eyes fade out, and the whole room is now
completely black.
COSMO
I know you are in here.
The Laughing Child grabs an iron pan.
The sun adjusted, just to show us enough light to see the
situation, Cosmo is aiming high, The Laughing Child is
standing beneath the firing aim with a pan in his hand.
Kid Malina goes to a table and swipes hard on it. It makes an
item move and drop to the floor.
At this moment The Laughing Child charges into the dark
shadows, pan in hand. A shot is fired.
It goes through Kid Malina.
The light of the fired shot shows The Laughing Child halfway
across the room, pulling the pan back for a swing before he
goes back to the darkness.
The Laughing Child slams the pan into the insane Cosmo's
kneecap. Cosmo falls forward. As he hits the ground the
lights go back on.
The impact of the fall makes another gunshot go off.
He turns around, there is The Laughing Child in all his
glory. As he tries to move, The Laughing Child does his
creepy laugh as he slams him again with the pan.
EXT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
A large crowd has now gathered. They are in silence.
COP 1
Should we move in?
COP 2
I don't know.
COP 3
Look at that!
A Mother and A Son are running down the fields.
Some cops go over and escort them back.
TEACHER
I hope everything is alright.
COP 2
What? A boy? There is a boy still
in there?
A MOTHER
He saved our lives.
TEACHER
A boy?
INT. EVIL HOUSE, DOWNSTAIRS - AFTERNOON
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(M)
This is the end.
He kicks the gun out of Cosmo's reach.
COSMO
Face me. You little brat,
THE LAUGHING CHILD
(laughing, M)
No. You face me!
The Laughing Child lifts up the guys face to meet with his.
The eyes glow white with smoke coming out.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
(M)
Someone want's to have a chat with
you.
Pulls him in close.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
(M)
See what I see.
In the room Ghost of a Father is there.
THE LAUGHING CHILD (CONT'D)
He is all yours.
GHOST OF A FATHER
Thank you.
Ghost of a Father warms up his fists.
THE LAUGHING CHILD
Come sis, let's get out of here.
KID MALINA
I need to rest when we get home.
The two Hart's exit.
Cosmo looks up. He starts laughing insanely.
COSMO
You...I killed you.
GHOST OF A FATHER
I know.
Kid Rick takes off his mask in the back room before they head
outside. He opens the door for his sister and the two of them
leave through the thick fields of grass.
EXT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
COSMO (O.S.)
(screams the most horrific
scream imaginable)
COP 1
That's it! We are moving in!
TEACHER
Please let everything be all right.
A MOTHER
But that boy...
INT. EVIL HOUSE - AFTERNOON
They kick down the front door.
They split up.
A duo finds him on the floor. The back door is open.
COSMO
(finally cracked beyond
repair)
Shut up. Shut up. Shut up....
COP 3 (O.S.)
No sign of the boy.
Cop 2 bends down. There is the mask.
He stares at it as the mask with a life of his own stares
back.
COP 2
M...M was here.
Cop 1 walks in.
COP 1
What?
COP 2
We had it all wrong. We thought all
this time, M was some sort of late
teen, early 20's, prodigy.
Cop 2 lifts up the mask.
COP 2 (CONT'D)
This whole time, he was just...a
kid.
EXT. BARICADE OF FOLK - AFTERNOON
Kid Rick walks up unnoticed from behind.
TEACHER
Okay...sorry class. The bus should
be back soon.
BEN
(noticing Kid Rick)
Hey!
KID RICK
Did I miss anything?
BEN
Only the coolest field trip ever.
Cop 2 comes holding the mask, and talking.
COP 2
No sign of him.
Ben notices the mask.
The cop comes to the teacher.
COP 2 (CONT'D)
Do you know whose mask this is?
KID A
It's Ben's!
COP 2
Ben?
TEACHER
Ben made that mask. Ben where are
you?
BEN
I am right here.
TEACHER
What can you say about this mask?
BEN
I lost it when I got off the bus.
TEACHER
Did you?
KID RICK
I was with him the whole time, I
think someone stole it.
TEACHER
Who?
KID RICK
I don't know.
TEACHER
You sure?
BEN
(sticking with Kid Rick)
Yes, I took it off for awhile
because it was hard to breath in,
and it was gone.
COP 2
It's okay, I think it's best that
we all forget this mess.
BEN
(to Kid Rick)
So it was you. You saved them?
KID RICK
I had to. You're the first person I
told this too. I'm M.
The class starts to walk away as we zoom out.
