HUSBAND
You might be right. Waiter! |
RACHEL (VO)
(As husband talks
inaudibly to
waiter.)
He was my best freind in this
life. The way he talked. The way
he moved. His stare was hypnotic. |
HUSBAND
(Staring into her
eyes)
And what will you have? |
RACHEL
Whatever is fine dear. |
HUSBAND
She will just have the burger
then. |
RACHEL (VO)
The music sounded so good. It was
like our life was defined at this
one moment. |
RACHEL
Would you like to dance with me. |
HUSBAND
(Thinking)
...Sure. I think it will be fun.
But just one song. |
They get up and dance. She leans in close to him. |
He pats her. |
EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY |
She is walking, lost in thought. |
52.
The wind suddenly picks up. She huddles herself. |
RACHEL (VO)
(Tears start
falling, face
expresionless)
I love you, and they took me away
from you. You now lie in the dirt
probably decaying or something.
They showed no mercy for you. |
Clenches harder on her outfit. |
RACHEL (VO)
And I shall see to it that they
get none from me. The cops are
useless. They have fear. But not
me. I will see them dead, or it
shall be me rotting right next to
you. I love you. |
INT. LAWYERS ROOM - DAY |
Jessica walks in. Lawyer is looking over will. |
LAWYER
Sit down Ms. Schwartz. |
She sits down. |
LAWYER
(Uninterested)
I hope your trip here was
uneventful? |
JESSICA
You called me. Lets talk. |
LAWYER
Um, are you ready? |
JESSICA
I just found out my parents died,
now I want to get this over as
quickly as possible. Please. |
LAWYER
Very well. I regret to inform you
however your parents retracted
their previous will and never
wrote a new one. |
53.
JESSICA
What did the last will say? |
LAWYER
As their lawyer, I am bound by law
to not disclose that information. |
LAWYER
In other words, I would break the
law to tell you the contents of
the previous will. Besides, the
last will was destroyed. Its
policy that wills become burned
when they are replaced or
outdated. |
JESSICA
(Not sure)
I dont know. |
LAWYER
My job is to handle the families
bussiness I have nothing to gain
from lying to you. |
JESSICA
(Almost crying)
So my family has no final words to
say to me? |
LAWYER
They did however have in position,
this list of items that are
automaticly released to your name. |
Hands her a list. |
She reads. |
JESSICA (VO)
(Stops Reading)
Something was wrong. |
54.
JESSICA
It isnt here, must be a misprint. |
LAWYER
Whats a missprint? |
JESSICA
When something is printed wrong. |
LAWYER
I know what a misprint means Ms.
Schwartz. I meant, what in the
list is misprinted? |
JESSICA
My moms Jewel, It wasnt on her
body. And she told me she would
give it to me. The rest of these
items are nothing but figures and
other things. |
JESSICA
You're telling me My mom's gem
isnt here? |
JESSICA
Was it in the last will? |
LAWYER
I am not at liberty to say. |
JESSICA
(LOUD)
You're a real sick peice of work
you know that? I have a house,
that was taken from the
government. I have a car, that was
impunded and sold in an auctuin.
And You lost the last thing that
my mother and father had and the
one thing that is rightfully
mine?! |
55.
LAWYER
I am just a messenger dealing with
bussiness. I am sorry that you do
not get to inheret a gem, but that
is the truth. |
JESSICA
(Scary)
I WANT IT NOW! |
She starts crying and seems to huddle up against nothingness
as the backround fades out. |
EXT. ROOF - NIGHT |
Its raining hard. A storm in the horizon, Jessica is still
huddled up as the backround fades out to this scenario. |
She gets up, her crying is now silent. |
Slowly begins to walk towards the edge. After a beat, looks
down. She is high up. |
JESSICA (Vo)
I could end it all, right now. |
The scenery changes around Jessica to the illusion that she
is falling down, yet she is still on the roof. |
JESSICA (Vo)
What left is there to live for? |
She pauses, the imagery fades. |
JESSICA
(To herself)
No. Not like that. I wont let it
end this way. Mom, dad, please... |
JESSICA (VO)
Its too dark inside, I am scared. |
She stands up, trying to hide her own fear, and perhaps
giving in to her own darkness. |
JESSICA
(Cursing the
heavens and the
world.)
I WANT MY LIFE BACK! |
Flash of lightning brightens across as we |
56.
THUG 1
Wake up...Johnny Boy. |
EXT. STREET CORNER. - DAY |
Axel is against a wall, trying to get himself up. His hands
gripping the brick wall. Five Thugs surround him. |
THUG 1
Seriously, what is your damage? |
THUG 1
(baby wanna cry
voice)
Awww. Poor Johnny is afraid? |
AXEL
You going to let me go now? |
The Thugs laugh. |
THUG 3
Take a few fingers? |
THUG 5
Break all his bones? |
Thug 1 walks up to Axel, takes his glasses and smashes them
to the floor. |
THUG 1
Whats it going to be, little man? |
57.
THUG 1
Tell me where the dope dealer is.
And then... |
Gives him a look to indicate that there may be some mercy. |
AXEL (Vo)
I knew he was a dealer, I saw him
running towards me moments earlier
and for the heck of it, told him I
would delay them. |
He gets knocked down. |
THUG 2
Your begining to hurt my hand. |
He gets up. A one sided fight ensues between four thugs and
Axel who is merely making himself look bad. |
THUG 1
Are you just crazy, or stupid. |
He is thrown back to the floor. |
Acts as if nothing is the matter then runs for it. |
58.
Thug 3 catches him. |
Axel foolishly tries to move out. |
Thug 3 uses the momentum and smashes him against the wall.
Face first. |
Using the recoil Axel gets up. He walks out of the alley
way. |
EXT. STREET WAY - DAY |
A Passerby is walking by. Axel plops out and grabs her. |
PASSER
(Screams!)
HELP ME! |
The Thugs catch up. |
THUG 5
Dont even think of moving! |
Passer out of fear goes for a small gun in her purse. Axel
notices and out of instinct grabs it. |
The thugs run closer. |
Axel pushes Passerby and takes her gun. |
Thugs stop. |
Axel points a small gun at them. |
AXEL (VO)
What the hell am I doing? |
AXEL
(Laughing manialcy)
Dont move! |
Sirens are getting closer. Axel is making some calculations
in his head. |
Passer sneaks up and sprays him with mace. |
59.
Axel drops gun. |
AXEL
What the hell. It burns! |
The thugs rush when the police finally come. |
COP 1
ALL OF YOU DOWN WITH YOUR HANDS
UP! |
Axel weakly raises his hands. |
PASSER
(Pointing Axel out
to the cops.)
He...that man there...Hes crazy. |
INT. JAIL CELL - DAY |
The Cell door closes. |
AXEL (VO)
Where did I go wrong? |
He looks around. its a crazy scene, locked with other thugs,
drugies and some crazy folk and gangsters. |
Takes a deep breath. |
The thugs from last scene are escorted to an oposing cell. |
AXEL
(Lets out a...)
Oh dear god no. |
Goes to a corner and sits. |
JAIL GUY 1
Don Rodrigo...Dead? You're joking. |
Axel raises his head. |
JAIL GUY 2
Heard he got whacked. |
60.
JAIL GUY 3
Aint that somethin'. |
JAIL GUY 2
On the news and everything. |
JAIL GUY 1
Wow, so, who gets the big peice of
the pie now? |
JAIL GUY 2
Aparently the Don kept his will in
a breifcase. So no one knows. |
JAIL GUY 2
Its disapeared. No one can find
it. Allegedly, whoever finds it
can easily proclaim themself the
new head. Also I heard that
Rodrigo kept some of the gangs
most valued possesions in case of
a rainy day. Meaning that if
someone like you or me found it,
we could start our own gang, and
strong enough financially to go
head to head with the current
families. |
AXEL (Vo)
This was it! The ultimate
adventure, the big risk. No coward
would dare embark on this... |
He moves in closer. |
AXEL (VO)
All I needed now was all the
details. |
Jail Guy 2 continues on as Axel has stealthily hidden
himself behind them, hearing their words. |
EXT. STREETS - DAY |
Edward is walking down the street. Its busy. |
EDWARD (Vo)
The gem, the will, hidden in a
briefcase, that was hidden inside
a vault, kept their incase all
(MORE)
61.
EDWARD (cont'd)
hell broke loose. It did, and when
they went to find it, the case
disapeared from the open vault. My
employers boss, a canidate for
successor and one of the prime
suspects. He finds the will, he
will dictate his own name to it
and take power. He will keep the
gem to hide it from those who
would use it. And the documents,
he could continue to bribe
officials as well as know who is
on the inside and just how
trustowrthy they are. I can only
come up with one lead. If my
employers don did steal it, he
would be a fool to hire me and
rather would have made his move
for power by now. There was
another on the list of suspects. A
man who uses scare tactics. Known
for using assasinations more then
any person previous. And he
lives...here. |
Stops infront of a house. |
Takes a breath, walks in. |
INT. MOB BOSS HOUSE. - DAY |
Don is sitting, smoking a cigar, listening to the radio. |
Knock on the door. |
DON
(Jerk-like)
Betty! Who is it?! |
Betty nervously opens the door and sticks her body half in. |
BETTY
Its....a...um...Mr. Lamont. He
says he is a "Retrieval Expert?" |
Betty looks behind her, hears something then comes back. |
62.
BETTY
He says, "yes" if that is what it
takes to talk to you. |
DON
What the hell is a hitman doing,
talking to me? |
BETTY
He says its about bussiness. |
DON
Did you check to see if he has any
weapons? |
EDWARD (OS)
If it makes you feel any better.
My name is Edward Lamont, you may
have heard of me by reputation.
The bussiness is the breifcase. I
beleive you know what I am talking
about. |
DON
Dont just stand there like a ditz,
let him in. |
Betty motions for Edward to enter. |
Edward politely walks in, stops looks at Betty. |
EDWARD
(Curtiously at
Betty)
Thank you ma'am. I am sorry for
any inconviniance. |
Don motions her out. |
BETTY
(As if she did
something wrong)
Yes sir, Im on it. |
Don motions Edward to sit. He does. |
DON
So... "Ice" Lamont? Thee Ice
Lamont I presume. |
EDWARD
Ice, only by reputation, but I am
him. |
63.
DON
You are not an assassin here to
kill me? |
EDWARD
Not at this moment. My payment is
purely in the recovery of Mr.
Rodrigo's lost goods. |
DON
So, what does a missing breifcase
have to do with you being here? |
EDWARD
We, my employers, have reason to
beleive that you might have some
information as to the wherebouts
of this item. You wish to
elaborate? |
DON
No, infact, I dont. Who is your
boss? |
EDWARD
Unfortunately, I cannot give that
information out at this point in
time. I am sure you can understand
the importance of confedentiality
in such situations. |
DON
(Gets out a gun.)
Whats to stop me from shooting you
right now? |
EDWARD
Betty for one, she is a civilian
in all this and a witness. Second,
this is a public office, you could
not easily cover up a murder here
as you could in your main
headquarters. |
Don puts gun on table. |
DON
What can you tell me about your
boss? I mean if you are coming
here, and by your reputation,
perhaps he is of some importance
to the current set of families? |
64.
EDWARD
You have such a fascination on
this subject. Why? |
DON
I want to know who my acusor is.
Wouldnt you? |
EDWARD
I am not here for idle chatter.
You have told me everything I
needed to know. And maybe if you
paid attention, you would know
everything that may save your hide
in the days to come. |
Getting reay to leave. |
EDWARD
Stop me if I am wrong. You are
preparing for what may be a war,
and have placed your faith in a
competitor. For your sake, you
better hope your man wins the
race. If not, then you have it.
Good day. Should you have it,
expect my return. |
About to leave. Pause. |
EDWARD
If I ever find out you touch your
assistant in an abusive manner
again. I shall return as well. |
Leaves. |
EXT. STREETS - DAY |
Edward is walking. |
He stops. |
EDWARD (VO)
They have been following me for
the past two blocks. Perfect. |
Turns a corner. |
65.
EXT. ALLEYWAYS - DAY |
Edward walks down casually. |
A beat later, a group of hitmen walk down. |
EDWARD
So, you finally came. Whats the
order? Kill or give me a lesson I
wont forget? |
HITMAN 1
He told us to make a missing
person out of you. |
EDWARD
(Turning around)
You do realize who you are dealing
with? |
They charge him. He doesnt even put up a fight. |
HITMAN 2
(mockingly)
So your'e Ice? |
EDWARD
You still cannot kill me. Not
here. |
He points. The alleyways has its share of hobos who slightly
unhid themselves at the commotion. |
They look at eachother. |
HITMAN 1
(to the other.)
Find a small corner, we will kill
him there. |
Hitman 2 walks up to him, pushes a gun to Edwards back. |
HITMAN 2
Lets take a walk. |
EXT. DEAD END - DAY |
They enter. |
66.
He walks to the end. |
Nothing. |
Edward smiles. |
Behind the hitmen, are the hobos, with guns in their hands,
shoved to the back of the perspective head of the person
infront of them. |
EDWARD
Thank you for showing up. |
EDWARD
You think that I can speak to a
Don like that and get away scotch
free? It was all a matter of
drawing you to the right alleyway
and waiting for my associates to
cover me. Now Gentlemen, disarm,
if you will. |
The hitmen slowly drop their guns. |
EDWARD
(to his hired hobo
army)
Now, did you have enough to
purchase the ropes I asked. |
They nodd. |
EDWARD
Then please, tie them up and I
will give you the rest of the
money soon after. |
EXT. SAME PLACE, LATER - DAY |
Don walks with entourage. |
67.
DON
Whats this you wanted to show me? |
Stops, in horror. |
Infront of him are his hired goons, tied up with a sign on
them. |
He takes it off of one of them. It reads "I will let you off
this time. But I will be watching. Don't try that again.
-Ice" |
GUY
Boss? You dont look so hot. You
alright? |
DON
Ill..I will be fine. Lets get
back. Send someone to pick them
up. |
A phone call is heard. |
INT. PRECINCT. - DAY |
A hand picks up the phone. |
INDIGO
(Descretely)
Are you sure you should be calling
here? |
DON (OS)
We have a situation. |
INDIGO
(calmer)
Okay, lay it on me. |
DON (OS)
I require some extra services. |
INDIGO
Ah, hell. What happened? |
68.
DON (OS)
Can you meet me? |
INDIGO
Sure, I'll punch out now. |
INT. SOME LOCATION - DAY |
Indigo enters. Don is sitting on a chair, his men are there,
with weapons. |
INDIGO
Okay, this looks serious. You said
you wanted to see me? |
INDIGO
Whats on your mind? |
DON
Someone is threatening me. Someone
who has quite the reputation. Now
I am backing you up. So I need you
to help me. |
INDIGO
Whose this person? |
INDIGO
So, he is looking for the will
also. What did he tell you? |
DON
Practicly nothing, he tied up some
of my hitmen and threatened action
if I went after him as well as
some other personal demands. |
69.
DON
Practicly nothing, he tied up some
of my hitmen and threatened action
if I went after him as well as
some other personal demands. |
INDIGO
What did you tell him. |
INDIGO
You're lying. Either way, dont
worry. He will be dealt with, but
for your sake. Lay off. I will
take over. I'll do everything I
can to find out who hired him, you
continue to do your thing. Just do
your best not to cross him. |
DON
Is he really this dangerous. |
INDIGO
He is the best. All the rumors you
hear, true. |
DON
How do you plan on getting the
case? |
INDIGO
I have my people on it as we speak
and unlike Edward here, we have
our leads. I must go for now.
Thank you for the heads up and
Edward will be dealt with. |
He walks away. |
INDIGO
(Talking back)
When I return, you can greet the
city as your personal playground. |
70.
INT. EDWARD'S HOUSE. - DAY |
Edward is on the couch, listening to Motzart and sipping on
some fancy wine. |
Door bell rings. |
Gets up, turns off the record player. Walks to door. |
EDWARD
May I ask whose there? |
EDWARD
(Opening door)
Welcome, Detective Indigo. |
EDWARD
On the record or off the record? |
Invites him in. |
EDWARD
Then by all means, come in. |
Walks in, takes a seat. |
EDWARD
So I take it that your the race
horse he is betting on. No? |
INDIGO
Beleive it or not, the police
department has alot at stake over
whats happening. Its our job to
make sure the city doesnt fall to
a widespread mob war. |
EDWARD
Question is, if you find it? Will
you really just hand it over so
simply? |
71.
Edward nodds. |
INDIGO
I am not a fool. I find this case,
the city is mine. |
EDWARD
You are planning total anarchy
arent you? |
Indigo just smiles. |
EDWARD
You better be careful. You may
just wind up getting yourself in
too deep. |
INDIGO
Already taken care of. At this
moment, I am too valuable. |
INDIGO
After? Everyone in the city will
be in submission. |
EDWARD
You do know that as of last night,
I have a stake in this as well. |
EDWARD
I therefore have an obligation to
fulfill. |
INDIGO
And I am well aware of your
batting average on the field. |
EDWARD
You therefore know...I cannot let
you succede. |
72.
EDWARD
Then it apears we are in
agreement. |
INDIGO
I will like to state, that should
it come down to it, and I'm almost
certain it will. I will have to
kill you. |
EDWARD
How do you plan on that
accomplishment? |
INDIGO
Simple, I stack the odds. Thats
how. |
EDWARD
I will have to take your word on
that. Now, I am sure, it is time
for you to go, or perhaps you
enjoy setting suspicion on
yourself? |
Indigo looks at his watch. |
INDIGO
I guess you are right. Till we
meet yet again. |
Gets ready to leave. |
EDWARD
One more thing Detective. |
EDWARD
It is not propper ettiquete to
threaten someone in their own home
unless it is absolutely warrented. |
INDIGO
Very well, I will not threaten
your life now, but I leave with
this warning. This is the one job
that will cost you your life
should you procede. Understand? |
73.
EDWARD
I have my obligations as I am sure
you have your own. Good day. |
Indigo leaves. |

Dear Journal, My daughter is in a
coma.... |

Father stands next to Young Jessica |
CC
I started hanging with the wrong
crowds. |
UNKNOWN
You got to pay what you owe. |
Father is seen in a bad situation. |
CC
My wife is dead. I have nohing to
live for... |
FATHER
My god...What am I going to do. |
LAWYER
There is one way out. Give them
the jewel. |
Lawyer acts as a comforter. |
FATHER
How do you know about it? |
74.
LAWYER
My boss would like it. Now if you
want everything to go to normal... |
The word Lawyer is in caps. |
INT. JESSICAS ROOM - DAY |
JESSICA
(To herself)
Lawyer? That lying, evil... |
JESSICA
(Nice and Polite,
On phone.)
Excuse me, I think we have one
last item to discuss. Can I come
over? |
INT. LAWYERS OFFICE - NIGHT |
Knock on door. |
Lawyer on chair. |
LAWYER
Come in Ms. Schwartz. |
She walks in. |
JESSICA
I think you know what I am talking
about. Now I am going to ask
nicely one last time. Where is it? |
LAWYER
And that thing is? |
75.
She snaps. In a quick movement goes up to him and grasps him
by his colar. He could take her in a fight, but he is in
shock by being caught off guard. |
A slight laugh as if to calm herself down. She then
straitens up and sits on his table. |
JESSICA
My jewel. Aparently my dad owed
people some money. And you
harrassed him for my mothers
jewelry. |
LAWYER
I dont know what you are talking
about. |
JESSICA
Also, I may have been out for
several years, but give me some
credit. That stuff you pulled with
the will, I checked up on it. You
lied to me. Do you think I am
stupid because I woke up almost
yesterday? |
JESSICA
Well, for instance, did you know I
read my dads diary? And guess
what? Apparently my dad got
scared. So scared of you infact
that guess what? |
She pulls out a small revolver. |
JESSICA
He bought himself a gun for
protection. |
LAWYER
Hey be carefull with that. Dont
make me call the cops. |
JESSICA
Cops? You cant call the cops. Your
my lawyer, what happens here stays
here. Now... |
Looking almost insane, and pointing a gun to him. |
76.
JESSICA
Where is it?! Who did you give it
to?! |
LAWYER
Some guy named Vince took it. He
worked for Don Rodrigo. Now
please... |
beat. |
LAWYER
You never heard of Don Rodrigo? |
JESSICA
Where can I find him? |
LAWYER
Um... He's dead. Died not too long
ago. |
She drops the gun and stumbles herself int a corner. |
The lawyer starts talking or saying something but is
inaudible. |
JESSICA (VO)
(Hopeless)
Now what? |
She gets up and walks out. Closes the door behind her. |
EXT. OUTSIDE LAW OFFICES - NIGHT |
She walks outside, looking nautious. |
JESSICA (VO)
My god, what have I just done? |
Tiwsts and slighty cringes. She bends over. |
A galnce at her hands. Tears fall on them. |
She starts gagging. She vomits. |
JESSICA (VO)
What have I done, I just pointed a
gun at someone. I wanted him dead. |
77.
Sees her scared reflection is a puddle. She is sickened by
her own face. She splashes it and starts to run. |
EXT. BAR - NIGHT |
There are lights on and some noises coming from within. |
INT. BAR - NIGHT |
Rachel is sitting in the stool. She looks almost as if she
lost all her will to live. |
RACHEL (VO)
A whole day gone by and nothing. |
RACHEL
Please, another drink. |
RACHEL
Please, just one last one? |
BARTENDER
Conming right up. |
The bartender goes through the motions then seconds later,
gives her another glass. |
BARTENDER
Be careful. Okay? |
Meanwhile. Across the bar. Two Jerks are seeing her as eye
candy. |
JERK 1
Would ya look at that. |
JERK 2
Drunk and easy for the pickin'. |
JERK 1
That outfit is yelling for
attention. |
78.
JERK 2
What angle you going for this
time. |
JERK 1
I'm thinking I should go with the
"yo baby, yo baby, yo." |
JERK 2
You seriously think that will
work. |
JERK 1
She should be so honored. |
JERK 2
If that dont work, I call dibs. |
They walk over. Jerk 1 struts more then the other. |
JERK 1
(thinking himself
charming.)
So, hows a peice of...I mean hows
a woman like you in a place like
this |
RACHEL
(distant)
I dont want to talk to you. |
JERK 2
Wow, less then a second, a new
record. |
JERK 1
(To his partner.)
She hasnt turned me down yet. |
Puts his hand on her shoulder. |
She doesnt move, or even react. |
Extra beat. He cant beleive she isnt moving a muscle as he
moves his hands beleiving he is seducing her. |
Chase, a good guy/undercover cop is watching. |
JERK 1
So, uh, whats your name? |
79.
CHASE
(not threatening.)
Hey, I think you shouldnt do that |
JERK 1
Mind your bussiness. She is coming
home with me tonight. |
JERK 2
(Howling)
You tell him. |
RACHEL
Please...Leave me alone. |
JERK 2
You just got dissed by a drunk
hottie in a dress. |
BARTENDER
I think you two had too much to
drink as well. Please sit down at
a table. |
JERK 1
(Heading
back...for now)
Okay, but I will be back for you
sweetness. Soon. |
JERK 2
Maybe we will show ya how its done
down here. |
JERK 1
Heck, when I'm done getting a
peice of that, I may go for the
whole thing. |
Rachel is being tormented by the calls. Her eyes look awake
and annoyed as hell. |
RACHEL
(Beyond a low
whisper, to her
dead husband)
Make them stop. |
80.
JERK 1
I know she want this, the question
is how long are you going to deny
it honey. |
RACHEL
(Louder and
quicker)
Make them stop. |
CHASE
(To himself)
Poor girl. |
JERK 1
I'm the best you will ever get. |
JERK 2
When I'm done with you, you wont
ever be able to pull yourself off
of me. |
She trembles to keep whatever it is, in. Then come the cat
calls from out of focus. |
No longer human (in nature) but an animal, she yells a
battlecry and attacks without any form or grace as they
moved closer. She merely scratches and claws. Its a
drunk/blind rage. |
JERK 1
GET THIS PSYCHO OFF OF ME! |
Scenery becomes blurry. She claws at Jerk 1 some more. |
World slows down, then she stops. |
Jerk 2 comes in her direction, he looks mad. Possibly to
attack her. |
She cant the person come to rescue her, he stops Jerk 2. |
Jerk 1 gets up. |
HUSBAND
I wont let you lay a finger on
her. |
Jerk 1 is defeated as well. |
81.
He turns to her and smiles. |
She stares blainkly at whome she beleives to be her husband
risen from the grave so to speak. It is really just Chase. |
CHASE
(Vague in sound
reception)
I said, are you alright? |
She faints. |
Her eyes open. |
INT. WHEREVER/WHATEVER - NIGHT |
Could be the inside of a car, could be roof, dimly light
room etc. Not important and too vague to tell. |
Rachel gets up. |
HUSBAND
No...No I am not alive. I am dead
darling. |
Looks around a bit for where she is. |
HUSBAND
You're not dead yet. |
RACHEL
Then...Where am I? |
HUSBAND
You made a vow to me remember? |
82.
HUSBAND
Please, I want you to keep that
vow. |
RACHEL
But I dont want to talk about such
things. I am finally here with you
again. Please. Dont make me leave. |
HUSBAND
You made a promise to me, I wont
rest until you keep it. They
killed me. I can rest because they
killed me and they are still free. |
HUSBAND
You know who they are. And what
you need to do...you may have to
cross certain lines. |
RACHEL
I dont know if I am ready. |
HUSBAND
The mob took my life, find them,
and hurt them like they hurt you.
Avenge me. Kill if you have to. |
HUSBAND
Please, do it for me? |
INT. MOTEL ROOM - DAY |
Rachel watches as the halucination disapears. Chase is in
the corner, keeping an eye out the window. |
83.
CHASE
You are awake!Good, how's your
head feeling? |
RACHEL
Like Hell...WHO ARE YOU!? |
CHASE
(Shwoing his badge)
Name's Chase. I'm currently
working undercover. You are
Rachel, are you not? |
RACHEL
(Confused)
Ya. So? |
CHASE
There is reason to beleive your
life is in danger. We were tailed
on our way here. You were passed
out though. |
RACHEL
Why am I in danger? |
CHASE
Word is, you know something. They
think you know where the location
is to Rodrigo's will and
testament. |
RACHEL
Name seems to ring a bell. |
CHASE
If enough people suspect you, you
are as good as a missing person in
tomorrows paper. |
RACHEL
(Getting defensive
shy)
So what now? |
INT. CAR - DAY |
Two hitmen are parked outisde the motel. |
HITMAN 1
So when do they want us to move
in? |
84.
HITMAN 2
The boss said he would call. For
now we wait. |
HITMAN 1
Getting tired of waiting. It was
bad enough being at that bar last
night with those losers trying to
hit on her. |
HITMAN 2
Tell me about it. |
HITMAN 1
Are you sure he is a cop? |
HITMAN 2
Ran the plates myself at the
prrecinct. They confirmed him as
Chase Douglas. Nobody special, but
still will make quite a fuss if he
should disapear. |
HITMAN 1
Her information better be
valuable. |
INT. PRECINCT. - DAY |
Indigo picks up the phone. |
DON 2
(On Phone)
My boys tracked her to a hotel.
Aparently some cop name Chase is
with her. |
INDIGO
Chase? That may complicate things.
I have every reason to beleive
that she holds information to the
items you seek. Be careful. |
DON 2
Why should I be careful, she knows
something I am certian she
shouldn't. |
85.
INDIGO
Look, we have a situation, I am
sure other people will want to see
her first. |
DON 2
No offense officer, but she is
already with a cop. |
INDIGO
If you want her to keep quite, try
to scare her. She is no good dead. |
Indigo notices his boss is coming. Starts talking
secretively. |
INDIGO
C'mon, we have had three
assasinations in this week alone.
My eyes are full. Please, as a
favor? |
DON 2
What are you talking about. |
INDIGO
I am saying that, if I get
assigned this case in particular,
there will be hell to pay. Do you
understand me? |
Slight hostility towards the end of the last sentance. The
Don understands. |
INDIGO
Good. As I said, watch her
closely, keep me informed and I
assure you everything will work
out. Goodbye. |
Hangs up the phone. |
INDIGO (VO)
What a moron. |
86.
INDIGO
(Inocently)
Yes sir? |
CHEIF
Who were you talking to? |
INDIGO
(slightly showing
his true colors)
No one, just some official police
bussiness for a case. |
CHEIF
I will see you later then. |
Cheif leaves. |
INT. DON 2'S ROOM - DAY |
Puts the phone down and sits for a moment. |
Bodyguard enters. |
BODY GUARD
So, whats the deal? |
DON 2
I guess we just wait for now. |
BODY GUARD
Don't mean to overstep my
boundries here, but this is not a
situation where we should wait.
WHat would the others think of
you? |
DON 2
You say yu don't mean to ovestep,
but you should watch your mouth in
my presence! |
DON 2
Right now, we played all the cards
we can. The rest is up to him. He
says we wait, I will wait. I dont
much like it, but d****t, we have
no choice. |
87.
BODY GUARD
Just be careful with this cop. |
DON 2
With Indigo? He is a smart man and
all that, but I doubt is that
smart, or frankly that stupid to
cross us. We are the ones in
charge. |
The boss is starting to get ants looking. |
BODY GUARD
You look okay? |
DON 2
I...uhm, just need a smoke. |
He motions the guard away. |
Don 2 walks out the back for a walk. |

(Muttering)
This case is going to give me a
heart attack, I swear. |
AXEL (VO)
The body guard left...Showtime. |
Axel with shades, queitly walks up to him. |
DON
(Getting paranoid)
Who the hell are you? |
Axel puts something against Don 2's back. Apears to be a
gun. |
88.
AXEL
I say we keep this conversation to
a low tone. |
AXEL
Tell me, what do you know about
the location of the will? |
DON 2
I take it you havent thought this
one through. |
AXEL
I'm going solo on this deal. Now
tell me what I want to know. |
Shakyness of Axels breath, no one else can hear it. Axels
arms is trying not to twitch. |
DON 2
You really havent thought this
through. You plan on searching for
the case, but what then should you
find it. |
INT. SNIPER RIFLE POV - DAY |
Axel is seen holding up Don 2. |

Sniper is in position watching the events. He smiles. |
INT. PARK - DAY |
DON 2
(Smiling)
My guard will be back any second. |
89.
DON 2
You have no chance of surivival.
No one holds up someone like me
and lives. |
Axel notices a path with no people. |
AXEL (VO)
My getaway, If I can just... |
EXT. ROOF - DAY |
Sniper pulls trigger. |
EXT. PARK - DAY |
A bang is heard. Axel gets shot in the arm. |
Don 2 turns around. |
A body guard comes. |
Axel turns to run, holding his arm. |
BODY GUARD
What did I miss? |
Don 2 already has his gun out. |
DON 2
(Ordering)
Shoot him! |
Axel is alrrady a good deal of distance. He his huffing and
puffing. |
Gunshots are made, but they miss as he either ducks behind
trees or they flat out miss. |
DON 2
Dont just sit there, follow him. |
Axel is now near the crowds. |
EXT. PARK, CROWDED AREA. - DAY |

Body guard walks around, he cant see him. |
90.
INT. MOTEL ROOM, BATHROOM - DAY |
Axel is breathing really loudly. infront of a mirror. |
AXEL (VO)
What have I gotten myself into? I
got shot? |
Moves his hand from his arm, blood. |
He takes off his shades, his eyes are really wide eyed with
suprise and fear. |
AXEL (Vo)
This wasnt supposed to happen. |
Starts sitting on the floor. |
AXEL
Dead... I am so dead. |
he looks at the mirror from the floor. The woman who was
once his wife is there as if looking at a picture of her. |
AXEL
What have I done? I am sorry.
Please forgive me, honey. |
AXEL (VO)
NO! Dont look, it was a past life. |
The picture fades of her. |
Knock on motel door. |
Axel does the best he can to pick up his own gun. |
INT. DOOR HOLE POV - DAY |
Edward is looking on, unmoving. |
EDWARD
My name is Edward Lamont, I
beleive we have something to
discuss. |
91.
EXT. MOTEL - DAY |
Door opens. Edward looks on, undauntedly and even without
curiosity that there he cant see who is in there. |
INT. MOTEL ROOM - DAY |
Edward walks in. Axel has hidden himself behind the door,
pulls out his gun. |
In less then a blur, Edward disarms Axel, while arming
himself and points Axel's onw gun against him without
throwing Axel off balance. |
EDWARD
I came to see you. Not kill you. |
AXEL
Could you please put the gun down. |
Edward looks him over one final time to make sure he has not
other tricks up his sleeve. |
As easily as he disarmed Axel, he disasembles the gun before
his eyes. |
Axel calms down. Then Edward takes out his own gun, but does
not point it at him. |
AXEL
Are you one of his goons? |
Axel is sighing in releif. |
AXEL
Then who are you, really? |
EDWARD
I should be asking you that. |
92.
EDWARD
I heard what you did, holding up a
mob boss in hopes of getting
information in broad daylight. |
EDWARD
I want to know what you found out. |
AXEL
I didnt find out anything, I got
shot, in my arm. |
AXEL
So your a hitman I take it? |
EDWARD
I perfer the term retreival expert
myself. |
EDWARD
Anyone can be a hitman, I am above
that. |
AXEL
So no one sent you to me? |
EDWARD
I just followed the trail till you
decided to go gung ho and point a
gun at one of the big boys. |
AXEL
You...you're looking for it too
arent you? |
He nodds. |
AXEL
Perhaps I should be the one asking
you some questions. |
EDWARD
I dont think you want to. You are
out of your league. |
93.
AXEL
(truthfully)
I don't care. |
EDWARD
You do understand that if you keep
going like this, you will die very
quickly? |
EDWARD
I see. What do you plan on
gaining? |
Pause. |
EDWARD
Thats not a healthy lifestyle. |
AXEL
(sarcastic.)
This coming from a hitman. |
EDWARD
I think you have me pegged
slightly wrong. I am not your
average hitman. I don't enjoy
killing people or do it for the
money. |
AXEL
So, if you're not here to kill me,
and you know I don't have any
information, then why are you
still here? |
EDWARD
Because I think you have no idea
what backlash can come from your
actions. |
EDWARD
You will not find what you are
looking for. And this road, it
leads to killing or being killed.
94.
EDWARD (cont'd)
Can you honestly kill someone in
cold blood? I think not. You lost
something, of that I have no
doubt. But this is not the place
for you. This is not your road to
travel. You should head back. When
this adventure is all over, it can
