LOOK THERE...A UNIQUE WORLD

LOOK THERE...A UNIQUE WORLD

A Poem by Devansh Shekhar Shukla
"

Composed in 2015, this is the sixth poem from my book, 'DSS-The Enigma-2018'.

"
Look there, far in the city,
there is a businessman, who is flying.
And inside the palace,
on the bed, a bird is lying.

Look there, far in the zoo,
a man is jumping on a tree.
And there, on the ticket counter,
a monkey is collecting fee.

Look there, far in the street,
a man and a dog in the lane.
Chain is in the man’s neck,
the dog is holding the chain.

Look there, far on the tree,
there are so many ice-creams.
But I know the reality of this unique world,
it’s one of my foolish dreams.

Hey Devansh
Haha, I really liked the role-reversals throughout the poem. What's most impressive is the precise reversals you've talked about. I think it makes it so much better! I loved the man on tree and monkey collecting fee thing the most.
It's an interesting world, no doubt, maybe even more so than ours! :D

Devansh, this poem is so imaginative. I particularly liked the stanza about the monkey. Certainly a unique way of looking at the world and gave me a smile too. All good wishes.

Thanks a lot Carina!
What a wonderful juxtaposition of realities. There's a certain sweet innocence in reversing life's 'realities". Keep up the good work. I'm working my way through your poems one at a time, relishing your sensitivities.

Thanks a lot sir, for your sincere review!
This is very interesting. Your imaginative world is a new one for me. I like how the dog was holding the chain instead of the man. Very unique.

It seems in this dream world the animals have the upper hand. Maybe they'll improve things.

I love it. An absolutely beautiful piece of work.
I don't know if you realized it but in the third stanza on the fourth line you said Chain is in the man's neck instead of on.
But I love it.

Thanks a lot Autumn. I am really glad you loved it :)
It's a great idea, Devansh, to turn things upside down. It can give us some insight into our irrational behaviour. I would be happy to befriend you but it has to be helpful to us both. If can check out my writing and review I will give you a tick.

Thank you so much, Alexandra.
I love this, it's sweet, reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, the second book when she's gone through the looking glass and everything is back words, One of my favorite things is a world that's different but exists along with our own, there is so much possibility there. So your dreams are never foolish.

This is, by far, the best poem of yours that I've read so far. This is well done on so many levels. I love the well-crafted rhyme & rhythm, plus your way of conveying irony is off the charts. Life is full of anomalies & you present this in a way that can be interpreted widely by many readers. This is very imaginative & you present each set of upside-down possibilities with strong original details. I'm really jealous of the mind that thought this up, even more than the writer part of this person (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
