LETTERS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD

LETTERS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD

A Poem by Devansh Shekhar Shukla
"

This is the first poem of my first published book, 'DSS-The Enigma'. You can get it by googling the name. You can watch the poem too on the YouTube channel- youtube.com/c/theshekharbrothers

"
1.Messages of love, joy and happiness
it is bringing.
Day or night, it doesn’t matter,
doorbells of houses are ringing.
For it brings the letters from all
around the world.
4.It is unstoppable and brings the wishes
of Christmas and Easter.
In the midnight, it’s carrying some gift
from a boy to his sister.
For it brings the letters from all
around the world.
7.It delivers letters from early morning
till late night on the rail.
The herald,
I’m talking about is nothing
else but the Night Mail.
For it brings the letters from all
around the world.

This reminds of how mail, like money, travels around the world. This poem reminded me of that. It reminded me, also, how like mail we each have a message and that too can travel and touch others. Whether fingertips away or days, it's the thought that keeps a spark alive. This was interesting. Great read.

Thank you so much for your kind words!
Letter writing really needs to be readopted in the states. Many great stories come from such notes. Very well done!

Night Mail! I was reading about Auden today actually(I’m guessing this poem is alluding to that) are the numbers correlating to that poem?

I love the poem by the way and will definitely give it an all out review whether or not it wins the geek squad contest.

Thank you so much for your review!
Glad to hear that you liked it.
Here in the states the art of letter writing is slowly drifting away replaced with pre-written cards and very little space for personal sentiments. This write reminds me of how my grandmother used to write letters on her Underwood typewriter and send notes to my family members this tradition sadly is lost in time with the advent of email and social media

The grand days of excitement waiting for the postman and what delights he will bring to your door. From family and friends with gifts, cards and letter with news from far and wide. To fill you with hope, love and enjoyment of someone caring and loving you. And always having that wonderful reminder within your reach write on a card with a pen. Or a token gift certificate sent or even money sent and buying something special to you with it all. As a reminder of them thinking of you.

Great poem! I love the connection between communication and travel. It reminds me of poetry connecting all of us around the world to the love of word.

Thank you so much, Ksenia.
Night Mail Boxes surely do the work of taking our love to our loved ones and delivering it to them with the same affection. Lovely poem!
