Venom

A dark poem about relinquishing ourselves to our own fears.

In its infancy,

Taken from terror,

Darkness swallows Light -

A toxic residual

Inhabits the metallic

Taste - Borne of Life -

The Death roams within.

Breeds upon my skin.

It spawns as

It metastasises -

Let dull the

Swelling foetus and

Subdue the illness.

Subside the stillness.

 

In its adolescence,

Reaped from the brim,

It controls.

Siphon the load,

Such taunting machinations

Presumed imperfectly these

Mathematical inaccuracies -

Balance the scales

And Balance again.

Shredded flowers and

Shrapnel

Infused in bone -

Let the breeding commence,

Etched in stone.

 

In its entirety,

Existing inexistence and

Inexistent existence,

It consumes.

It brews in waste.

Ferment and boil;

And explode this

Apocalyptic oblivion,

Tailored, like surgical precision.

It spreads and crawls

And creeps and seeps

To the surface

Through the ducts in

Our eyes, through

Our noses, our pores

Spill the Spoil

As substance contaminates.

Contaminated and left to recoil.

 

In its demise,

Anguish absorbs

The humanity

Like a white sponge

Soaking in a blood-bath:

Lungs deflate -

Organs shrivel -

Bones disintegrate -

Skin sheds itself -

It drags me down

And Flames engulf me.

Quickly. Quietly.
