We're All Running out of LifeA Poem by Devin Mitchell DurbinA continuation of Mine and Stefon Napier's "We're all Running out of" series.
Am I the nocturnal friend
at the edge of the beginning just before my end? Do I stare onto the horizon in the haze of cheap perfume as love for love's sake passes blind and the world itself just moves on by in currents of heartache, angst, and cliche finds a better path rather than stay in place. Am I the wind that's underneath her wing or am I the anchor weighing down her feet? Am I the sickness captivating my lungs and tearing at my eyelids leaving me ravaged in its wake we're all running out of life and if that weren't enough there is more at stake than the healthiness of a life that is on the verge of breaking because the world around us is rising and falling and God's name itself seems to be falling into obscurity or is used to argue against life as its meant to be lived. We're running out of life because what we lack is faith and what we lack in faith we make up in addiction and I find myself sitting here wondering what does it take to regain life when life seems to be breaking?
