We're Here

We're Here

A Poem by Devin Mitchell Durbin

I could write you love songs
Maybe a sad song or two
A poem to tell you
How beautiful you are
When the moon kisses your cheek goodnight
And I let go of your hand
As you walk to the stairs
And I look back to see if you still stare
And from time to time
My heart will skip a beat
And I will find a rhyme
That will slip from my tongue
As I wake up to the sun
And think of the son.
And how blessed I am to be alive
And to have you with me.
I am caught up in these moments
As little as a whisper
Or a tremor as I touch your hair.
I can't believe we're here.
