Time in the Midst of War

Time in the Midst of War

A Poem by Destroya

There’s something in the sky,

Above the clouds,

Beneath the sun.

The sparks disperse and fall

As Shadow collides with Light.

As Wind fights for the innocent,

Rain defends the forgotten purity.

Organisms move forward,

One leg after the other,

Arms swaying as involuntary movement,

Lips pursed, open, releasing each breath.

He sits beneath the oldest tree,

In a forest long ago abandoned.

Rain beats the ground;

Ground does not break.

Wind thrashes the debris falling from above.

So fast are Shadow and Light

Fighting without a just cause.

He stares toward Horizon,

Once undeniably beautiful

But now lost and corrupted by war.

For ages, this went on in the oblivious eyes of the dwellers;

For ages, Time hide under the tree,

Helpless and alone.
