Inexplicable

 

You don’t need to tell me

Because I see

I feel it

 

I may not hear it

But it’s in your eyes

The way your arms embrace me

The way you shield me

The way you move towards me

 

Without effort

Without consciousness

You just do

 

And I can’t complain

Tonight

I just can’t

 

For once I’m lost for complaints

And it feels so great

So weightless

 

Words of romance have been written

Spoken

Heard

All too often

 

But I feel them

I feel them

I won’t write them

I won’t directly describe them

 

But read in between my letters

And read everything that’s not being written

And they’re there

 

You may have to search

Have to question

Have to ponder

But they’re there

 

And this feeling

For just tonight

Just this once

I can’t shake it off

And I’d be a fool to want to

 

This feeling of romance

Of love

 

No, it’s not written

It’s not spoken

It’s not described

But it’s present

 

And there is no need

If searched and haven’t been found

Then it never will be

I haven't written a poem in ages, and I know I probably ALWAYS say this in this section, but I truly mean it.

This poem is a romantic poem without being cheesy.

I had no idea what I was going to title it but I think the title suits it.

I liked this a lot. I found it interesting that as I finished reading the third stanza, I felt the poem was complete somehow; and I pause for a time and simply became lost in the beauty of 'just knowing.'

Oh my God this is SOOOOOOOO cheesy! ... is something that absolutely nobody can say about this. It's sweet, classy, and conveys the sentiment very well without dripping in soppiness. Damn, I'd forgotten how well you write, and that's a damned crime. Hopefully you get more inspiration soon.

I definitely think you achieved your own goal of making this a mature, less ''cheesy'' version of a romantic poem. There is no forced rhymes, which I completely respect. I have a hard time diverging away from that myself. Your imagery is painted with simplistic words, which is impressive in it's own right. Well penned friend. And hail from Quebec also ! :D

I understand this feeling of not having to be told someone loves you, because it's in their actions. I feel like this poem really empathizes the saying that "actions speak louder than words", and it shows how especially true that is in a romantic relationship. The title fits very nicely.
