Metal PuppetA Poem by DestinyxiMetal Puppet
I wake in the morning And get out of bed Get dressed Eat breakfast No, not because I want
to Not because I’m hungry It’s routine
Out the door before it’s
late Walking on the
sidewalk No need to look up I know where I’m going I don’t know why It’s just routine
Don’t need to think
twice I do what I need to do I don’t do it for
myself Oh no I do it because I
always have It’s burned into my
mind The steps I’ve taken But a million times The movements so
familiar So robotic
Pull my strings Look, I dance A little puppet But aren’t we all?
How do I know I’m
alive? Ah well I feel I feel pain It helps me feel alive The gnawing inside my
stomach Right on the side Takes my breath away I know where I need to
go So I’ll go And the pain will just
have to wait Wait its turn For my attention
I’m on a schedule I’m on a timeline I’ve got things to do Places to go People to see
This pain keeps me
alive While I’m the walking
dead A puppet to life Pull my strings Look, I dance
Don’t you see We’re all Just dancing
Our strings being
pulled And we’re moving We don’t know why But we are
Whether we’re a wooden
puppet Or a metal robot
We’re constantly on
the go And we just Don’t Know Why © 2012 DestinyxiAuthor's Note
