Inner Self

Inner Self

A Poem by Destinyslight

Locked up in a room
Chained up to a wall
My inner-self is trapped
By the evil that surrounds.

Family members mock
Not listening to
The pleas of my inner-self
Screaming for them to aid.

Sisters point fun and mock
When they see my chains
Not careing that my inner-self
Is slowly dying.

My father’s just as bad,
When he hears my cry
Saying I cannot see your chains
So they must not exist.

Mother is the only one
Who tries to understand
The pain my self is feeling
Tries to free the bonds.

But she is weak
She cannot pull the chains,
She listens to the others
And leaves me there to die.

It seems to my self
That the only one who counts
Is my lord and savior,
Only he can save me.

My Savior I trust
That if I put faith in him
They he will free my inner-self
And let me be me.

He is my only friend,
He is the one and only
He is my only love,
He is the one to free me.

With the lord looking at me
He gently pulls the chains,
And they come right out of the wall
Setting me free to face my evils.

My lord still helps me fight,
The Evils that surround,
But the one thing that I say counts the most
Is that he set me free.

I really liked how the poem was going at first, but then it got to the "savior" parts. I'm not religious, so I guess that's why. But I suppose that doesn't matter what my opinion is and others will like it.

The bit about parents not understanding is entirely true; especially to me. You'd think that since they were young once they would know how we're feeling.
