The Final Flight

Dedicated to the Gander Crash

12/12/85

Not many remember it now,

So many other things took it's place,

So many have fallen from grace,

It's still in my memory,

If only things were not how they turned out to be,

It started way back in 1985,

When a certain plane blew up and not take a nose dive,

I was sixteen at that time,

You could hear the wind softly chime,

I was on my way to school along with my friends,

Sadly those have drifted apart and came to an end,

I felt my heart sank to my pit,

Didn't realize what happened until it hit,

After I got to school, I was sent down,

To the office lady that sent me homeward bound,

As I left I didn't think of what it actually was,

Names flashed before me,

Didn't know the 'cause,

Than one name came and I was able to see,

So I ran home crying, didn't think that it could be,

But yet it happened and it was so true,

I found out my brother had died which made me blue,

Him and his buddies were coming homeward bound,

To spread Christmas joy and turn everyone around,

It was on December 12, 1985,

6:40 am when they had died,

That is the day that everything changed for me,

When I realized how much of a b*****d this world can be,

All I can do now is move on,

But sadly no one remembers that day when 248 soldiers and 8 crew, were coming homeward bound.
