you know, i think the purpose of haiku was to paint a simple picture, but leave it to so many possibilities.
"Deep in the jungle
In a dance as old as time-
They soar over fires."
it leaves you to think, tribal? or indian traditions? perhaps even kids around a capmfire, though that be too simplistic. but what i think it means, in my perspective, could be indirectly, fireflies in the air around the fire, or perhaps it could refer to the embers ripping away from the flame and being carried up by the smoke. after all, fire dances =]
