Alone

Repressing emotions

locked in a cage

unable to trust myself with my thoughts, 

chained into the silence

tears stream down my face.

The glass door reflects my face

unable to see my reflection

afraid to see the light in my eyes dim away

this feeling of hopelessness I know it too well.

I look up at the sky

and wish to the moon

take away this numbness in my heart,

light my path because I cannot trust myself.

Take my hand, and hold it tight

take me back

when I felt the warmth of the sun

this feeling of loneliness

overwhelms my heart,

place your hand on my chest

and rip my curse away

because I cannot do it alone.

This silence surrounding me
only gets louder,

trapping me in my own thoughts

unable to set myself free.

I close my eyes,

wishing for someone to call out my name,

I stand still,

watching the world pass me by

I extend my hand towards the sky

trying to grasp the warmth of the sun

but the icy cold winds cut me so deep.

I look up at moon

wishing to take away this numbness in my heart,

light my path because I cannot trust myself

Can't trust myself.

Take my hand, and hold it tight

take me back

when my innocence roam free

and laughter filled the sunny days,

chant your butterfly effect,

put your hand on my chest

and rip my curse away

because I cannot do it alone.
