Severance

Severance

A Poem by Moonflower

  Our love is dead.

Like the brittle, grey leaves

crushed

Beneath your fingers

Swollen, callused

Our Love.

Like a degenerating disease,

swallowed you,

swallowed me

A consuming fire,

of Flesh and Breath,

Rebirth then, Death.

You hold my ashes

in your hands,

Sing the psalms and scatter

Me

on the ground.

Nothing left...

You are the one who

chased me

from the Light,

As if, we could hide

In the shadows [cool and dark]

and Find some kind of

Infinite Abyss

As if Life

would never find us here

collecting fractures of snow flakes

on the tips of our tongues,

Scorching

Dancing

in the backlash

and swallowing secrets, promises,

even deeper

Are they still cradled in your belly?

Boiling away

 in acidic fumes

while I watch your face,

Contorting,

losing its beautiful, delicate shape

Transforming

Becoming..

[desperate, relentless, anger]

Fury.

As if I am the Desert

[flat, bleak, desolate]

and you

You are the Sun

beating, beating, beating

down on me

Your unshakeable, tireless heat

reigning

Where will I hide?

Until you taper off, slip down

Between

the folds and become enveloped

in the awaiting

Spaces

Rise again,

smooth and cool

Rise again,

a lovely diskus looming over

cooling sands, soothing

Soothing hands

Will you become this again?

I the desert, and you, You the Moon.

breath taking. i am astounded by who much your poetry has grown, this piece is marvelous, so much description, which i love, and so much emotion and imagery.
the lines your use are so powerful and the small line in brackets tie in superbly. i adore what you did with this poem an outstanding bled of everything thrown in here. bravo

L'amour.... Passion... Romance.. Glamor... what an elegant writing! "I the desert, and you, You the Moon." Beautiful... Though there is a smooth breeze of gloominess and a desperate desire it never feels like a dark poem... enjoyable actually, with all those well-written expressions and description and comparison. I couldn't ask for more. You nailed it.

Powerful poem of love and disappointment. I like the way you expressed your desires in this poem.
"Transforming
Becoming..
[desperate, relentless, anger]"
The ending was amazing. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poem.

this seems very personal but very confusing. besides the switching between calling the subject (i'm guessing a former lover) the sun then the moon. but the word choice and the diction is impeccable and very very original. i admire this piece very much! :)
