Carefully, they brought the hatchet

Carefully, they brought the hatchet

A Poem by Moonflower

I want to destroy
everything
in my path

Don't come to close, dear
Don't press your lips
to the cold Earth
and
find me unshaken

I'm trembling
beneath
silver wings
you left me breathless
with a darkened heart

Can I tear you apart?

I just want to destroy
everything

I think you have a really good title, and I love that about this poem.

I don't really think the poem uncovers the true power of that title though. Who are they? It seems that you are just talking to another person here, possibly a lover who has wronged the speaker of this poem. I understand the want to destroy everything, I think that is good.

How about "Carefully, she brought the Hatchet?"

I think some more specific details about what the hatchet could be nice. Maybe some more specific details about the destruction she wants to bring. We don't necessarily need to know about what proceeded this, but I feel like some imagery or symbolism would be helpful.

Also, the question towards the end of the poem seems to be interesting. Is it a question of permission, something the speaker wonders if she can do? It almost seemed like she was asking for permission from him when I first read it.

overtaken my feelings of destruction, the lust for tearing things apart. short, yet very powerful.

When someone had weapons and are strangers. Don't let them in. I like the story in this short poem. A very good ending to a excellent poem.

This poem has impact for expressing hurt and revenge and I like the wording. I'm not sure if you left the in my path out on purpose but it would balance the poem. Nice write Desiree

interesting how you went from destroying everything in your path to just wanting to destroy everything.

"Can I tear you apart?

I just want to destroy
everything"

Beautiful poem. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Your words make me shiver, and create such a reaction that most don't.
