Last Chance

Last Chance

A Poem by Moonflower
"

Not everyone gets another chance at love

"

Where is that girl you used to know
with smiling eyes and open arms
Is her face just another shade of gray
Well, I wish
I could look in the mirror
Well, I wish
I could see the world through
Kaleidescope eyes
All those colors..like bits of broken glass
on the shoddy pavement

"Did I ever tell you that I love you?"

Oh God..No..

I never even said it
Never thought
the language
would stand a chance

you only saw me

 from a glance
Our first kiss, it was a game

..not a dance..

And this
is when I realize
I just never had a chance

Not even in Hell,
Here where the ashes smear
with the sway of fingertips

 and oceanic tears

Where all your thoughts
bring to life

...My own nightmares..

ooo this is slightly dark in some ways - it has the remnants of regret in it - the did I say it? oh god I never even did! the realisations and musings when looking back on what was and what could have been - love the "Kaleidescope eyes, all those colors..like bits of broken glass" - powerful!! and then the realisation "never even had a chance" nice!!

A powerful poem with a sad story. Some of us are rocks in the game of love. Hard to break into. Some hearts are tender and take a long time to heal. Forgiveness can't be given when you left someone alone and afraid. And didn't give s**t. A strong ending to a excellent poem. Thank you.
