Of Thorns and Roses

Of Thorns and Roses

A Poem by Moonflower

And maybe I'll realize that I love you today

take back all the things that I decided to say

Because when you spoke, frozen words in the grey,

I felt my heart beat for the first time in decades

And now when we kiss, I try not to breathe

because I'm afraid that this feeling might flee

Your hands are the sanctuary that I seek,

So when you hold me, know that I'm your's to keep

Oh, wow wow wow... Moonflower, you've really done a great job with this one. I like the way that this begins. I'm not sure why, but it gives me this feeling of "broken rhythm", this philosophy Bruce Lee wrote of when you authored his books on Jeet Kune Do (and yes, east asian martial philosophy can be translated into just about any walk of life). It's something in the way it began..."And maybe I'll realize that I love you today". Truly beautiful piece.

beautiful and cautious love unfolding like a gentle flower...that how this poem seems to me....I like that the love described is real love....with the insecurities popping up throughout...honesty....great piece.

This is the blossom of a Moonflower that only happens
once per century. This special and very intimate.
It has an amazing feminine strength and energy.

Oh I really like this! It's short but perfect. The rhythm is amazing and the rhyme is great as well. It's really hard to execute a poem with such a close rhyme scheme and not have it come off as elementary, but you did! I think the phrase "frozen words in the grey" really brought it out for me.
Great job!
