Of Thorns and Roses

Of Thorns and Roses

A Poem by Moonflower

And maybe I'll realize that I love you today

take back all the things that I decided to say

Because when you spoke, frozen words in the grey,

I felt my heart beat for the first time in decades

And now when we kiss, I try not to breathe

because I'm afraid that this feeling might flee

Your hands are the sanctuary that I seek,

So when you hold me, know that I'm your's to keep

Hmmm, this is interesting. Realizing feeling of passions during a tough time I think-- passionate poem anyway you interpret it. The slant rhymes and true rhymes moves thing along nicely as well.

this was amazing work, really loved this poem, it's so heartfelt and sweet. those simple words you use are so beautiful. as for the saying "a picture paints a thousand words", for me it's the exact opposite here.
"And now when we kiss, I try not to breathe
because I'm afraid that this feeling might flee
Your hands are the sanctuary that I seek,
So when you hold me, know that I'm your's to keep"
great words and please continue!!

A beautiful and hopeful poem. Today I wish I spoke less and held on tighter to the people I loved. I tell my children love is fair. You get back what you give. I like the emotion and feeling of being content. A excellent poem.

Where're the thorns? ;-)

I know what you mean. Implicit. I find that truth has a thorny exterior and a roseate heart as well, which is intriguing. Then you have the S/M humor of the book Forget the Roses, Give Me the Thorns, and the picture only deepens.

The thing is, f**k fearing the feeling fleeing.

Zen punk side. ;-)

I'm thinking there should be. I love the brevity of this piece but it seems you could add more yet still keep it short and tight too. My favorite line is "but when you spoke, frozen words in grey, I felt my heart beat for the first time in decades. Beautiful!

Beautiful sentiments about the ever increasing glow of feelings... taking a chance on something so fragile...
