By careful examination...A Poem by Moonflower
I had a dream everyone died and I found myself alone scared, wondering why death hadn't claimed me as his own
So I screamed into their ears their bodies still, upon the bed ripping at the sheets, screaming
"Everyone is dead!"
As if the world was sleeping, all their eyes closed to the light I walked about in daytime as if lost, and beheld the sights
And all the cars were parked and silent all the doors were locked up tight As if everyone was sleeping, as if day had become night
And I cried, all shrill and painful A wail that shook the wind and birds they all flew away swiftly, the sound so ghastly and disturbed,
My tears were like cold ribbons streaming from my rosy eyes and I just kept wondering if there was anyone to hear me cry
Did the whole world lay sleeping, uncaring of their demise?
So I ran up to the houses, looking through windows and doors And I weeped and banged and pleaded until I couldn't any more
Who had cast this wicked curse, was I alone forever more?
I ran back to my home, grabbed the keys and ran starting up the car with nervous shaking hands The car shrieked with resistance as I stepped on the gas wailing with the metal as the silent houses passed
The streetlights gleamed with color telling me to stop and wait but I barreled through the red and did't stop to anticipate because no other cars were coming their owners would not awake
