Excuse Me, Do I know you?

Excuse Me, Do I know you?

A Poem by Moonflower

It's like your voice

on the end of the line

I have no choice

  but to smile

        and lie

          to myself cause

I have no regrets

  you don't remember but

 you didn't

forget

(Chorus) Let me go, You've said a thousand times

but I can't and I just don't know why

 Oh I'll never know why

Please excuse me

  Can I ask you again

Were you my

  enemy or were you my

                        friend

I'm not sure

if I'm right about this s**t

but its just

   a matter of

Physical

 gain

We may be different but

 its one in the same

(Chorus x2)

I don't even know why

I can't quit, No I don't even try

Because I love

  the feelings that I get

When I'm alone

   and I'm writing

this s**t

The thoughts that pass

       In and out

of my mind

  Are what keep me

from wond.ering

why

 I can't quit, I don't even try

Yeah I've never tried

Author's Note

Moonflower

The third song I've written
this one has a much different concept than the others
and also has a different sound, like a raspy, grungy tone with
stoner psychedelic riffs
This one is like addictive love, or the relationship between an addict and his drug abuse..

Cool raggedy bluesy lines -- I'd love to hear the whole song!

It's especially cool that the lyric is ABOUT the process of composing from jagged experience -- it takes me back to my earliest feelings of satisfaction re resolving relationship struggles in a song. The strange loneliness of creative exhilaration.

And I think the addiction theme is double-edged -- we might well be ADDICTED to incarnation itself, so obsessional energy is about what you do w/it, not vanilla good/bad notions.

The fulfillment comes from knowing you took something half-assed from life (ever thus ;-) and made it into a real whole-assed song.

Keep on rockin' in the free world, 'n' stuff. . .;-)

you could be a great song writer. Please share with me the melody of it. i wonder how it feels to feel that song.

It's hard to get the feel of songs by reading... mainly because they are meant to be heard. When I look at some of the songs by my favorite artists, they're surprisingly simple at times, yet are haunting when sung. This looks like it could make a great song, would be wonderful to hear it....

what a beautifully heartbraking song. Imagining it sung aloud; I'd love to hear this aloud. Wonder what it would sound like. The title had me thinking of something else (or perhaps something close to what I've taken from the poem altogether - rejection). well done, Ms.

love the psychedelic tint on this one...i've written songs but it's hard for me not to sound like a country song, i admire those who can do different

I like this poem and song. Sometime we know the ending before the beginning. No weakness in this poem. A outstanding poem.
