Before Time Began and I Whispered that Last Breath

Before Time Began and I Whispered that Last Breath

A Poem by Moonflower

I used to watch you from across the room
as you
...inhaled...

...exhaled...

Speaking in twisted lies
you would laugh
at those asinine jokes
choking on the heart ache
and burning down that cigarette

 You would see me breathing
with your sighs
I could never lie with my eyes
and
you always knew.

I could taste that pale
remembrance
of a moon lit sky
your lips on mine.

But those days passed like sand
in a glass
I'm still stepping on the broken
shards of lost words.

You never said them...
but neither did I.

We just danced around the edges of those
unforgiving stares
Hoping time would hold us there for a little longer
You always faltered
and laughed when I tried to keep you.

I always knew I'd have to let you go

though I never knew it would be so soon
that
time could pass so quickly
that years would have gone by
before I could ever let go and say goodbye
to those beautiful, summer nights.

bittersweet.

This poem pulled me in and had me emotionally invested almost instantly.
Its sad to sit helplessly and watch two souls slowly grow apart.

Hauntingly beautiful. A piece of love lost (or was it ever truly there? Or just a want on both sides) very nice.

love unexpressed is a serious crime... this poem is a wonderful portrayal of that...

A haunting, vivid portrayal of unspoken love and the memories of. We've all been there, regretting not saying or doing something and having to live with the 'what if...' forever onwards. It's horrible, really, because as much as you want to change the past you can't, and those who get caught up in their past can never live in the present.

unspoken emotions aches like hell, specially when departure comes in between people, I've been through that many times, and it aches more as time passes by, yet I can never learn to speak out not to the person involved.

I have the honor to be the first who will submit his review here. How much is hurtful the unspoken, blind and deaf Love! How much is deeply baleful to throw up the veil of lies and discover the truth when it's too late! How much is mournful and hard to let something go while you still want to hold and own it and never ever let it go!
Your words are heartfelt and profound, authentic and honest, deep and true. I truly love it, cherish the meaning and the whole story :) NICE
