Letters to the Wind

Letters to the Wind

A Poem by Moonflower

Burn my body, if you must

Let me fly away in a holy cloud of dust

Sing sweet and low as you cast me away

Whispering words of sorrow and praise

Burn my body, let my ashes roam free

Because after I'm gone it's no longer me

This is incredible! I love the last line "Because after I'm gone it's no longer me." Great.

"God no, burn the body!"

I really liked this. Something I'd tell people when I express to them that after death, I could give a f**k less about what they do with my body.

I like the image of a holy cloud of dust, too. That'd be an amazing sight.

Oh wow! Intense! I read this the first time and completely got a different perspective than what you are actually saying in this piece. Then I read it again and realized what you are really saying. But anywho, you are so right. Once we are gone...that's just it...we're gone. No more, no less. I love the message in this piece as well. Don't hold on to something that is gone, instead, let it go...freely. I also love how in such a short piece you manage such a strong emotion. Well, in me at least. :) This topic is bittersweet. We need to let people who have passed go, like you point out in your poem, but it is hard. But ok...enough rambling from me. lol...Great poem! :)
