I met myself

I met myself
today
on the dusty trails
of yesterdays
And I breathed a heavy,
guilt laden sigh...
and asked myself
a plain and stubborn
Why?

She turned to me
a burning glimpse of
sin
with a slightly bemused
grin
and said that it was all
worth while...

...but I'll never forget that smile...

Doppelgangers of any stripe always flash the uncanny.

Nothing tweaks the existentially strange like meeting oneself in 3-D, sans typical mirror.

You breathe life into this along a time line w/the sense of the dusty trails, the sigh, the why. . .

The "burning glimpse of/sin/with a slightly bemused/grin" is great, indelible, should be in a song lyric.

And ". . .but I'll never forget that smile. . ." leaves a haunting echo on this uncanny conjuration.
