Addiction

Addiction

A Poem by Moonflower

My stomach rumbles

I moan...

Flop over and roll

out of bed

Vision

glazed and tearful

sleep smeared

over iris'

Veins

ache and

pulse

behind my

lids

I feel the

sickness

coming on.

Coughing up

phlegm

filth.

My insides

churn

chewing on

the remains

Nausea

Fatigue

My head

Spins

Spinning...

I snarl.

Breathe deep,

cough.

I know it

isn't pretty

Lieing in bed

hair wrapped

around

Pillows and

cigarrettes

I'm...killing myself

Slowly.

A pretty acurate description..
This could cover an array of
addictions, well done...Oh
and good luck :)

Wrenching honesty. The entire issue of addiction is profound. Hard drugs at one end, incarnation itself at the other, all manner of accoutrements in between. ;-)

There was a very gritty black and white vampire film w/Christopher Walken and Lili Taylor made in '94 called The Addiction, by way of free-associating.

Your poem has the sparse authenticity of realist indie cinema. It seems whatever you write you have that knack. Keep workin' w/your eyes wide open.

Simple, but brutally written. Great conveyance of the need and the pain. Nice write.
