I walk

down spring street

going in

store to store

 

I stop at the

book store and

read, ponder

 

...sigh...

 

The sun is shining

warm, not too

bright

 

The antique shop

is homey,

reminds me of

child hood

 

I wish you were

here, so

we could exchange

memories

 

I look at the ground

 

one pair of tattered

shoes

on the pavement

 

My heart flutters

in remembrance

 

and I realize

...I wish you were here.

Very nice, I can't believe more people havn't reviewed it yet. Sometimes I thought that you made a paus a little too soon, in the flow of the text, but as I think about it, it does have a charm. I wouldn't change a thing. I think it's a really beautiful, down to earth poem. Thanks. :)

It's certainly those small, intimate moments that can recall memories we thought banished; thoughts of bygone yesterday that announces its presence by that bittersweet yearning that can catch us by surprise... this poem definitely brings that feeling to life.
