Spinning.

Spinning.

A Poem by Moonflower

And beneath the layers
{hidden}
Behind a steel barricade

Is my broken, withered heart.

A clutter of shattered pieces lie in a
pathetic heap.

...I Sigh...

And the cage rattles.

I think I can hear your heart beating

The image recalls a film of dark kink called The Pet.

The poem recalls the rattling ways of human interactions.

I wonder if the Spinning of the title would enliven the poet's "broken, withered heart."

Usually "Who rattled your cage" refers to a flare-up.

Hearing the other's heartbeat offers a key of possible hope. The cage may open; the heart may heal.

This was powerful and raw- the imagery was incredible.

Wonderfully done.

The multitude of defense mechanisms is overwhelming.
The poem really spoke to me a lot about forgiving and trust.
I look at how far a person must go, just to get close enough
to the heart..to mend it. The obstacles seemed in my mind's
eye seem to be an accumulation of heartaches...and the spirit
has become jaded and have given up in some ways...

Its a shame that in order to be invincible, sometimes we have
to hold on to the weaknesses that will never allow us to honestly
be worthy of that title.

Love is one of those funny things where it can be confusing to be
able to determine where you end and your relationship begins.
The vulnerability of sharing one's entirety is in full effect here.

Loved it! It was very thought provoking.

broken heart always hidden...
this was a good write...
and the one that know the pain is the one who's hiding that same broken heart all along.

OMG This is powerful.

Once a heart is broken, one often set up ramparts to protect themselves from future grievances. The more negative occurrences, the stronger the barriers. But the heart is deceptive, once love comes back around (old or new) the pieces manage to glue themselves together again. Past loves tend to rattle our cages more fiercely. A succinct affirmation.
