Ive been slipping in and out

of false redemption's
ever since

That first phone call

and now
every time

the phone rings

I hope a little harder

reality
isn't what it seems

And yesterday

just doesn't feel the same

without you here

without that ancient presence

somewhere out there

But who can turn back time and change
the past

Say the things you always meant to say

but
never had

Yes, i know...

I can never bring you back

But you haunt my dreams..

every breath I take

Has that one last little mistake

on the tip of my tongue

I can't pick up the phone
hear that dial tone
and make that one last call

because

You're not there

to pick up

the other end of the line..

Even though I'm still here

listening to the
ring

trying so hard to say

"good bye."

Losing my mom a few years ago I can really relate to this... Straight forward sentiment from the heart, that is what poetry is about.
