Addictions

A Poem by Desirae Tures

It was the first drag of coffee when I was reminded how bittersweet love could be.
I remember how yesterday,
When your hands found their way into mine,
No words were exchanged.
And the silence that wrapped itself around us,
Like winter jackets,
Brought us in closer.
Another drag of coffee and I was mesmerized by the sweetness.
Letting my mind indulge,
On how you rubbed your thumb,
Across my knuckles.
And when you laughed,
It was always focused towards the ground,
So I wouldn't notice how,
Your eyes wrinkled and your heart showed;
But I did.
The third drag burnt my lips,
But I made no motion of pulling back,
Because I started counting the times,
Where I imagined,
The pressure of your lips against mine.
And I could then taste how it would have ended.
Hot,
Sweet,
And then; very bitter.

I really loved this. The poem is basically one big metaphor and I loved the way you used it. This is one of the best poems I've read in a while- keep it up!

Desirae. Your work always leaves me in chills. You are such a good writer. Your poetry is incredible. Hopefully, you'll continue writing. (PS. you don't need the semi-colon at the end. Use a comma!)
