Sooner Than SoonA Poem by Alyssa
Alyssa Gandolfi I know somewhere out there, there is someone for me, So I shall take to my knees, and to heaven I’ll send my humble plea. I’ll pray for a handsome man with large hands gentled with love. Who among most things and desires, shall place me above. He’ll have an ear for music and an appreciative eye for a dance. A rugged man in every sense, though none too rough, for his woman he’ll romance. He’ll hunt and fish for her, he’ll not let her starve, And her beauty he’ll liken her from marble carved. Brown be his hair, though not his eyes, And grace him long limbs for his large size. So my Lord send him to me sooner than soon, Send him to me in the hours of the moon. This was the prayer I sent to His gates, So sure was I of my mate’s traits. For I knew somewhere out there, he was praying for me. Unbeknownst that to him I was being led in a hasty flea. He sent me to him sooner than soon, And we discovered we both danced to a similar tune. So in the night by the hours of the moon, We fell in love sooner than soon. © 2008 AlyssaReviews
