Haunted HeartA Poem by AlyssaI’ll tell ye a tale of a heartrending demise. All ye need do is gaze into my troubled eyes. But first, shipwreck your soul in a black torrent sea, Listen to the mournful wailing of a yarn that happened to me. And sink ye lower in my haunted waters, feel the icy hand upon your lung. From the albatross round your neck, the devil he hath strung. And now that ye feel my damp prison about your being, Truly will ye now feel my sad tale, this I’m guaranteeing. I fell in love with the devil of a man, my soul readily I gave up. And many star-crossed nights, twas not only my chin he did cup. But the devil’s heart long has been dead and cold. And too late for me to see hope’s light, iron was his hold. He felled me to my murky cell, Forever in my tormented soul must I dwell. Take heed my story, and think ye on this, As soon will ye be escaping my dark, haunted abyss. Not even for those few moments could you survive my sorry fate, so make haste, depart! And beware the devil’s handsome face, for now am I forever bound to my haunted heart. Alyssa Gandolfi © 2008 AlyssaReviews
