Tell Me Why

Tell Me Why

A Poem by Alyssa

Oh, my bleeding heart dost cry.
Deftly reaching out towards nothing, as you slowly watch it die.
Drowning, choking in my salty sea.
My gaze outstretched to you, my desperate plea.
My body, my heart and soul I so trustingly gave leave to you.
But save a few heated glances, my mind a matter you hardly cared to pursue.
A shattering cry, torn from my now colorless lips.
As slithering hands from the depths, bite coldly on my bare hips.
And with one last heart wrenching look to you, my hand gropes for the sky.
And while my mind knows there’s no hope left for me, aye,
You’ll take your leave from a watery grave,
But a haunting touch whispers over you in a mournful engulfing wave.
And three simple words, uttered from an ethereal sigh…
"Tell me why...."

This is magnificently written. This is just my interpretation but the person the narrator is talking to is watching the narrator drown in a sea of tears? I loved the metaphor in the third line:

"Drowning, choking in my salty sea." A brilliant way to say you are crying!!! I like this one alot.
