Embrace Life

Embrace Life

A Poem by Desert Dreamer
"

Life and defending the world.

"

Recognize and embrace life's pleasures
flirt with despair in understanding the destruction
the economy is rigged in favor of the greedy and ruthless
they claim ownership of the Earth's abundance

We are not alone in striving for a more humane world
for rivers, trees, humans, forests, deserts, skies, soil

The world is threatened

pollution
loss of forests
extinctions
radiation
oil spills
meaningless deaths
war
the list goes on and on

Even a mutiliated Earth is beautiful
go out in nature and ponder the beauty
let the Earth lift your burden
renew hope in life
the land is on your side

Stand on sacred ground
feel the connection
know its power

Gifts of the Earth
embrace them
dance when there is music
eat when there is food
enjoy friendships
listen to the birds sing

Do not be defeated by despair

we must stand together

Don't call me unpatriotic because I dare speak out
I will not sacrifice my soul in silence

If fear dictates what we say
then democracy is no more

If speaking of change
is madness or criminal
then it is time to fight
my words are justified

Our actions are significant
in the growing chain of action
even one quiet voice
could start a revolution

How your words echo my thoughts: never to put into the earth what I wouldn't put into myself and that applies to how I treat others - with respect and kindness wherever, whatever. Our world was abused from the word go but at least that was due to ignorance. Now most people know what's happening on, in and to our wonderful world but, excuses are still made, time and time again. And so it goes on, as you say .. it's true the planet's still beautiful in spite of being bruised but why sit back and say 'that's fine, that's enough' . It's not, not, NOT! We do have to stand up, we do have to speak out .. and now. Did I just rant a little, well, if so, no apologies. Many thanks for allowing me to add my bit .. not for the first time!

"Even a mutiliated Earth is beautiful" - indeed! though so many won't see it - the bruised world - just gets even more bruised and deflated - decimated as we go on and do what we like - great write! nice!

I love your poem, but have a little different view of
nature. The average person blames big oil companies,
the rich bureaucrats and the politicians. I blame the person
who rolls down the car window and throws junk, the people
who are flooding the ocean with plastic and other garbage.
We could go on and on, but we, you and I are the real culprits.
We, the people who fill our car with gasoline to drive to a basketball
game, or a party. There is plenty of blame to go around, if you and
I will just take our share off the top before we pass it out.
Thanks for posting your share in a nice poem.

Standing ovation here! I agree with each of your words. Without a first pearl put on a string, there would never be a pearl necklase, every book needs a first word, a first line to start those many pages... to, maybe, become a bestseller...

Vivid applause and high five!!!
