Nonna (Her Show)

Nonna (Her Show)

A Poem by Desert Knave

Easter was
Always "her show"
How she did it
I'll never know
But when she
Could no longer
Give it a go
That Easter
Just went away
As nobody
Else wanted to
Carry that day

The older generation loved making the holidays special. They could make a holiday dinner for 20 or more in a tiny kitchen. I will never know how my mom did it....but when she stopped because she could not anymore, we went to restaurants....not the same, is it? Ah, but we still carry the memories with us. Lydi**

Poignant piece of writing. My mother was the weaver of magic during the holidays, but at Easter she always out did herself.

Thank you. Yeah, Grandma was the whole show at Easter and it was always a grand event. ~Jim
