Behind the Lenten Veil

Behind the Lenten Veil

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

(a to-often-told tale)

"
It was hidden
Behind the Lenten veil
Witnessed only
By the Sentinel
Oh, they'll still all be
Damned just as well
Even if their prey
Dare never to tell
For many intentions
Line the road to Hell
Even those bidden
Behind the Lenten veil

As I read this very poignant poem, sexual abuse came to the fore and I pray I am incorrect in my opinion, Jim. Yes, they are truly damned and by themselves and the choices they made. I pray that their 'prey' don't stay silent but hit them full force with the revelations which will bring some form of justice for the incredibly horrendous acts they inflicted upon innocent bodies and souls within those bodies. I pray they don't remain hidden anymore, that the veil is pulled sharply aside to reveal them to all. I agree, it is a tale in one sense sadly told too often, yet in another sense sadly not told often enough, but hidden to protect them!!! Thank you for writing this poem, Jim and for raising awareness that things aren't always what they seem sometimes... Superb write! Thank you for sharing, Jim...
