However Much Company (Your Misery)

However Much Company (Your Misery)

A Poem by Desert Knave

However much
company
you'd love in
your misery,
hostages
should never be ...
only those who
commiserate
willingly
should ever be.

very well said: to me it seems as though only those who want to comfort you in your misery should be, whereas one shouldn’t feel compelled ( held hostage) to be with you unless he/ she wants of free will…..
a lovely thought and surely the truth….

This poem is a wonderful reminder that those whom we share our misery with should be with us of their own free will and not kept hostage to listen to what they don't want or need to hear. You define the meaning so well, Jim. Another succinct poetic gem! Thought provoking and inspiring. Thank you for sharing, dear poet...
