Far from the First

Far from the First

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

... and far from the worst ...

"
It was far from the first
Of my wandering nights
Of my wondering nights
It was far from the first
And quite far from the worst
Of my wandering nights
Under your window's light
Hoping for a brief sight
It was far from the first
And it won't be the last
Till your curtain's held fast

Your beautiful poem reminds me of Romeo and Juliet, Jim! The first four lines are amazing, the repetition is brilliant, I love it. Love is strange, isn't it. Hoping for a brief glance as she closes her curtains.I love how you are determined enough to stay there and to keep hope alive that one evening, she will see you and have a very happy ever after ending! Romantic and warm, sweet and tender, I love it! Thank you for sharing, Jim...

I am reminded of a song by the New Colony Six. "Can't you see me cry"----

Just hoping for that one glance, one look, an invitation to love.
