Break Out the Gear

Break Out the Gear

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

A Halloween Poem

"
It's almost time
To break out the gear
All Hallows' Eve
Will soon be here

I'll hone the blade
Of my machete
Make sure the shovel's
At the ready

I'll kill but once
And without haste
I need some blood
And more than a taste

It's almost time
To quench my thirst
And truth be known
I've done much worse

My favorite holiday....but I do try not to kill anyone...maybe just a cut.

Thanks. I actually dread it each year, but love to make poetry out of the mood it evokes. ~Jim
