That's our FebruaryPerfumed like a skunk But she never even Smells her own funk She stays sopping wet Like some sloppy drunk That's our February And she's kind of punk

The original "February"
"February"
February is whispering in my ear...
her sumac-soaked muddy breath
failing to belie the fact
that she is little more
than January's diseased half-sister.
No portender or harbinger,
just a dark pregnant pause
waiting to be purged by Spring.

Seems quite a harsh portrayal of poor sister February! For me, she is a saving grace that allows for a return to calm after the madness of December and the crazy heat of January where I reside. Have to say I prefer the original February…..a more eloquent portrayal with a sweeter sense of poesy. Go easy on the poor girl!
