At the Grave of the Knave

At the Grave of the Knave

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

A kyrielle sonnet from September 2005

"
Sing a song of death and grieving
Serenade my spirit leaving
Then pass some shots of rye around
And toss my body in the ground

Forget the scriptures, read a poem
To soothe this soul that's doomed to roam
Regale me with some joyous sound
And toss my body in the ground

Don't linger long above my grave
And shed no tears for this old knave
Let laughter and good song abound
And toss my body in the ground

Sing a song of death and grieving
And toss my body in the ground

Nice work. The lightness of the poem takes the bite out of facing death.

Oh my....such a lyrical sonnet about death and dying! Excellent writing here, but I hope no one will "toss your body in the ground" for many years, my friend. Lydi**

Thank you so much. I loved the darker side of poetry so much back then. ~Jim
