New WallsA Poem by Derek Smithfriendship
Into the dim light,
bare my walls of the world. You've entered that low lit light, Seeing these walls, behind the paper. Brought light and life to me. The vivid colors you use to paint. You repaint my walls with new colors; Colors of wit, charm, personality, comfort, warmth, and of course a friends love. Now creations line my new brighter walls. I look upon them fondly, bringing forth a thankfulness that you walk in these halls. With me; our friendship has become a part of my world now, it has its own special place. Within my being, my life, my smile, and deep in my heart. Your name hangs right beside your smiling portrait. Remembering just how dull, bare, and dark these walls had been, I thank you for the light, for the brightness now surrounding me. The new life you've breathed into me. Now I continue to look forward to the rest of time and our friendship shall bring each of us. So to you; my friends of all friends, I say to thee Here is my plea.. The simplest of things but at the same time the most important of things. From the depths of my once darkened soul, I thank you my friend. © 2016 Derek Smith |
