Denver CruisingA Poem by DennisA fun promotional poem for World Poetry Open Mic which is hosted by J Todd Underhill on friday nights in Denver Colorado on KZKO radio station.Cruising through Denver on a Friday night, Flipped on the radio to a station just right, It was KZKO, that progressive station They had the Vibe to excite the nation.
Was round eight o'clock when the format changed, The music was stilled and the words rearranged. After the intro, J Todd found my psych For on the air now was World Poetry Open Mic.
A call in show for the young and the old With poems read softly, some were read bold, From all over this nation, and round the world Spoken word art was sweetly unfurled.
Listening to the poetry, not watching my speed, It was the speed limit I forgot to heed. I was pulled over by a lady state cop, wasn't very likely she'd let my speeding drop.
Inspecting the car she heard a poet named Tate, Talk of his life, his family and fate, Then Ellie came on, spoke of love and of faey And the officer's mood seem to drift away.
That poetry show, it worked its own charm Her aggressive tone, it soon did disarm She said, "Don't speed as you listen to KZKO, For there ain't nothing wrong with your radio !" © 2013 DennisAuthor's Note
