Chapter 4: The Twins Are Alright

Chapter 4: The Twins Are Alright

A Chapter by Denise

"So how have you all been? You've gotten so big and grown up to be such beautiful kids," Evelyn said as they walked into an upstairs sitting room.

"Well, we're just seeing each other after a few years now. I've been away on some stuff while um--," Sam said before Jennifer interrupted.

"While Shon and I were living on our own since mom and dad left," Jennifer said.

 Sam was silent.

"Wait, what do you mean since your mom and dad left? I thought you and Shon were in foster care," Evelyn asked, completely taken back from what Jennifer had said.

"No, we left because I couldn't stand to see us living in a piece of crap like that when we already had a home. So, I packed up our stuff in the middle of the night and we left. But you would know that if you gave us call from time to time," Jennifer stated.

 "Jen, calm down," Shon said.

"No, Shon, it's okay. She's right," Evelyn said taking a seat next to Jennifer, "You're right. I should have called. The truth is, I was so upset about what Logan and Sira were doing to you kids that I forgot about what really mattered, and that was making sure that my grandchildren were safe. I always meant to call or come to the states to see you, but I was just too afraid. Afraid that you might judge me for my mistakes and for your parents mistakes. But regardless, I should've been there for you and I am so sorry and I love you all so very much. And I know your parents would be proud of you."

Jennifer knew she couldn't dwell on the pass forever. Her grandmother was admitting to her mistakes and even though she wasn't there for them before, she was there now and that's all she could really ask from her.

"I love you grandma and I'm sorry for being such a brat," Jennifer said hugging her grandmother.

"It's okay. You get that little attitude of yours from your father," Evelyn said pointing to a picture of her father on the wall in his younger days.

"Sam, you look just like dad," Shon said. They all agreed.

"And the twins are beginning to look like him more and more everyday," Evelyn said.

"Oh yeah, where are the twins anyway?" Shon asked.

"Well, Jammie's at tennis practice and Jared's out walking the dogs. He should be back by now."

 "How old are they now?"

"They're 11. They've always wanted to meet all of you, but-well you know. Let's go see if they made it home yet," Evelyn said leading them out of the room to the downstairs kitchen. It was just as beautiful and spacious as the others rooms in the house. She had the chefs prepare them lunch while they waited on the twins.

"So this entire time I thought that you never told the twins about us, but you did. What made you tell them about us, but never allow them to see who we were?" Jennifer asked.

"I showed them pictures and that's all. I knew that if they met you they'd see how great you all were and want to be with you, and I knew that would not be a good idea when the three of you are out saving the world. I didn't want them to be disappointed in you or me," Evelyn explained.

As they got ready to eat their gourmet lunch the chefs had made for them, their was a noise at the front door. Old Jack, Dewey, and Shorty ran out the kitchen into the foyer.

"Whose dogs are these?" a female voice asked.

"Jammie can you come in here for a minute?" Evelyn asked.

 "Where are you?"

 "In the kitchen."

In came a beautiful little girl with blue eyes and long, brown curly hair tied into a bun. She placed her Chanel tennis racket on a chair and studied the faces of her brothers and sister.

"Are you guys-" Jammie said bewildered.

"Yes, Jammie, this is Sam, Shon, and Jennifer. Your siblings," Evelyn said wrapping her arm around her shoulder.

Jammie couldn't believe her eyes. She ran over to them and gave each of them the hug she always imagined to give them one day.

"Wow, it's so nice to meet all of you. Grandma said we'd see you one day, but I didn't think it would be so soon. I've waited so long for this day. I thought it would never come, but it's here. You're right here in front of my very eyes. I'm sorry I'm talking so much I'm just so excited," Jammie said stopping to catch her breath.

"It's okay. We're just as excited as you are," Sam said.

"Okay good. So what brings you to London? Grandma said you guys are always fighting evil and all that kind of stuff," Jammie wondered.

"Well, we came here to bring you and Jared back to-," Shon said before being interrupted by Sam.

"Um, no Shon, remember? We just came to hang out with them a little and get to know more about our twin brother and sister," Sam said squeezing Shon's shoulders.

 "Ow."

Jennifer was confused.

"How long are you staying? Do you need somewhere to stay? You can stay here if you want. We have a lot of room here. Right, grandma?" Jammie asked hugging Evelyn.

"I have no problem with my grandchildren staying here as long as they need to."

"Yeah. We can stay. Is it okay for the dogs to stay in house, too?We didn't make any arrangements for them to stay in a dog hotel or anything," Sam asked rubbing Shorty's belly.

"Sure. They can stay in Buck and Truman's room. They're part of the family as well."

"Speaking of Buck and Truman, where are they?" Jammie asked.

"Jay took them out for a walk. He should've been back an hour ago," Evelyn said, "I'll go look for them. Jammie can you show your brothers and sister to their rooms."

Evelyn left the kitchen and was out the front door with two bodyguards following. Jammie took the three of them up to the third floor of the castle where most of the bedrooms were, including her's and Jared's. They walked pass Jammie's room which looked like a palace in itself and Jared's room was right next door, but the door was closed.

"These rooms are all that's left down this hall. You can pick which one you want," Jammie said.

Sam opened a door across from Jared's room and almost reminded him of the one he had back at home.

"I'll take this one," he said throwing his things on the bed.

Shon took the room next to Jared's and Jennifer's room was further down the hall.

As they all headed back downstairs, they heard someone coming up. They stopped abruptly and came face to face with a boy dressed in a black t-shirt and khaki cargos.

"Hey, Jared. You won't believe who they are," Jammie said pointing to the three of them.

"Yeah, I know and I don't care. Excuse me," Jared said pushing his way through them.
