Chapter 7: The Stranger

Chapter 7: The Stranger

A Chapter by Denise

Back at the pond where Shon had met Suri, Jennifer was practicing how to control her powers while in a warm environment(this is very difficult for those who have ice powers). The sun was beginning to set, and she needed to find shelter before it got too late. Jennifer formed ice cicles in the palm of her hands, then threw them at the trees, causing them to break in half.

After awhile, Jennifer said to herself, "Man, what did i do to make Shon just come at me like that? I'm trying my best to take care of him, and he acts like he doesn't care about what I do or say that would try to help him- to try to help us."

"Maybe he's just forgotten," a quiet voice whispered in Jennifer's ear. Jennifer quickly turned around.

"Who's there?" she asked. Jennifer turned invisible so whoever that was there would not be able to see her.

"Someone just like you- strange and lost. And you don't have to hide form me- I'm not here to hurt you," the soft voice answered back.

"This is just a defense mechanism and if you're so much like me, why don't you show yourself?" There was no answer. Jennifer walked in circles, wondering who was this person that assumed they knew who she was. She sat down and put her head in her hands. As she lifted her head, there was a boy standing in front of her. The sudden shock caused her to faint.

Jennifer awoken in front of a sizzling campfire and a surrounding of white walls.

"I was wondering when you were going to wake up," the boy said. Jennifer stretched and rose to her feet. She noticed that the white walls were really snow.

The boy walked over to her and said, "I can't tell you who I am, but I can tell you what I know about you. I know your name is Jennifer, and you were given a gift by the F.i.w.e tribe. You haven't seen your family in quite some time, but you wish to find them one day. And then there's the only sibling you do have contact with, Shon, your brother, who you take care of."

Jennifer looked a little bewildered by what the boy was telling her. Was he a secret agent or something?

"Now, I know you're thinking 'who is this guy', but there's no time to answer that question. Your brother is in trouble and he needs your help," the boy said.

"Are you talkin' about Shon Fireice? The same Shon Fireice that told me that he hates me? That Shon does not need my help. Since you seem to know everything why don't you go help him?" Jennifer said unemotionally.

The boy sat Jennifer down on a small chair and told her, "Whether you like it or not, Shon is your brother and he will always be your brother. He didn't mean what he said, he was just frustrated and wanted to let some steam off. And you know, it would be best if you treated him like his age and not like his shoe size. You love him and I can bet millions that he loves you too."

"Wow, did you just make that whole speech up just now?"

"Um...no, but I did mean it."

Jennifer smiled.

A tear rolled down her cheek. The boy wiped it from her face and gave her a kiss on the lips. Jennifer blushed and slowly stood to her feet. As she left through a small opening.

"Hey, what's your...," Jennifer wanted to ask him for his name, but as she turned around, he was gone.

"What a strange boy," Jennifer said to herself.
