Love and BaseballA Poem by Dennis ShanabergA love song using baseball analogies. Why? Because I canWind up the pitch--straight and smooth. That’s when I see her start to move--yeah. Three strikes I’m out or hit outta the park, But I’m still just pitching in the dark--oh. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she still sees Me. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she can’t see It. I warm this bench while she’s MVP Best damned hit that you’ve ever seen. Call me the Indians, I’ll never make it. She’s the New York Yanks, made to cheat with. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she still sees Me. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she can’t see It. Come on baby let’s play Cuz I got game. I cannot promise That you won’t get played. Don’t listen to what My critics might say Cuz baby, oh baby, I just can’t behave. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she still sees Me. She’s so far outta my league, But I’m hoping that she can’t see It. © 2012 Dennis ShanabergReviews
