Upon the Return of Vesta (Silent Stained-Glass Eyes)

Upon the Return of Vesta (Silent Stained-Glass Eyes)

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

A bittersweet song to usher in the return of someone thought lost

"

That bright red hair,

Those stained glass eyes

Lighting up this sad, shadowed world.

Sunshine in her heart,

A spark in her mind,

A fire piercing the dark.

Oh how I-

Tried to call a million times

For your voice on the line.

Maybe if I called just one more time,

I’d’ve heard you once again.

Been forever and a day

Since I’d seen those eyes

But I think it was that last day

That did me in.

Oh those silent stained glass eyes.

Nothing can hide.

Not even God could hide

Within those silent stained glass eyes.

The madness out

Or did they lie

About breakdowns that broke you down?

The sunshine burned.

The spark-it’s arson.

How my perception turned.

Oh those silent stained glass eyes.

What did you hide?

Something deep inside.

Inside those silent stained glass eyes.

That bright red hair-

Those stained glass eyes

Showing up in my dreams again.

Why’d you show up here?

Will you just leave again

On a whim?  That’s my fear.

Should I say how I-

Tried to call a million times

For your voice on the line.

Maybe if I called just one more time,

I’d’ve heard you once again.

Been forever and a day

Since I’d seen those eyes

But I think it was that last day

That did me in.

Silent stained glass eyes.

Nothing can hide.

Not even I could hide

From those silent stained glass eyes.

I like the flow and the story in the poem/song. You create some wild visions with your words.

=D This is beautiful. The rhythm fits really nicely and the emotion is great. You have some great images in there, I'd love to hear this to music.
